Sticky grease for struts ?

Hi Guys,

I have Behotec struts with a very sticky grease that's very effective at providing damping . Does anyone know a common source of a similar grease so I can service my struts ?

RE: Sticky grease for struts ?

I have been using a synthetic automotive CV joint grease made by Redline for the last 6 years that works very well. Seems to have the same 'stickiness' and viscosity as the grease that came with my Robart, JetLegend, Skymaster struts over the years. Same translucent red color, same sticky and hard to clean up texture.

The Redline stuff is kinda hard to find (generally used in performance and racing applications) but I'd think most synthetic CV grease would be similar. Don't try the cheap "moly" CV grease, it is not 'sticky' enough and tends to run easily (and is a nasty gunmetal grey color that makes your struts look dirty)....

Hi Marc
I had to change my oleostrut springs to something much stronger on my AW L-39 1/5, when doing that I used "Friction Grease" to get the dampening affect. Works great! I got it from a R/C Car store. They use it for friction dampers on R/C cars.
This is the product:

It's available in different grades. To give an idea, I used High grade for my 40lbs L-39.

Yup, Redline CV-2 is the stuff - it's available from a variety of sources. Here's one of them [link=http://store.titanmotorsports.com/sycvgr.html]Redline CV-2[/link]. A tube of that stuff lasts forever.
