Bobcat or T45/Hawk
Which plane, Bobcat or Jet Legend's T45/Hawk, do you think is the more "Forgiving" plane to fly? I realize that's a subjective question but I'm just trying to help myself make up my mind. Keep in mind that all my flying is done on a grass field. Thank you for your input!

RE: Bobcat or T45/Hawk
Go with the Bobcat, I'm building a JL Hawk and I wouldn't consider flying it off grass. The effort to get the Bobcat built and ready to fly may be a lot easier than the Hawk. The Hawk is nice, but you'll need additional equipment to operate the gear doors. Finish quality on the Bobcat would be better as well.

I have a Hawk - the Bobcat is easier to fly and I also wouldn't fly it off grass, though you probably could. The Hawk's not bad to fly - just not as easy as a Bobcat, for sure.

Bobcat Composite is a great and easy jet to fly, land, pavement or grass. Get some trailing link gear and you will not reget it. I'm now building a Skymaster Hawk, and its a totally different plane, much more maintaince for sure.

I agree that the Bobcat is a much more forgiving plane, but why wouldn't you fly the T-45 off grass? I would think that the trailing link gear would handle it OK...

I fly my T45 off soft sand at the beach near me. If the strip is long enough 500' or more, you should be doing fine for both on grass. Get a P70 or P80. The problem with flying/landing from soft sand is that you have to to track very straight or the wheels will dig in and yank the gear out of the planes.
Will talk to Bush about that and he will give you a thumb's up. :) Mike globaljetclub.com |

Do you want a scale look or sport look:)
The T-45 flys great; however I never tried it off of grass, although my modified gear mounts should handle it as I had to re-do the wing and nose mounts, the stock JL Chinese plywood is not up to the task. |
