12X throttle ratchet?

Guys,

Are all the throttles on 12X transmitters smooth action or is there a way to add the "ratchet" clicks like on airplane versions of the 10X?

Thanks,

Beave

If you ever answered your phone I could tell ya!

Just call Horizon, they will send one or send it in and they will install it.

I thought the smooth feel would be alot different but after using the 12x compared to the ratcheting on the 10x it really isn't that bad, in fact I think I prefer it now.

I like the smoothness. I like to think of the throttle in a turbine as another surface of control! On approach its what keeps your airplane from pointing down! :)

You wouldn't want a ratcheting elevator, well maybe some would. Oh well, I guess we're all just different. :D

On the 10X I took my ratchett out........smooth is better for me

not ratchets...they are pre-determined detents LOL

I prefer the detents. Smooth throttles are for rotor heads.

Why bother with proportional controls.....I guess if ya just turn the throttle on or off it doesn't matter. I like it but...I am a rotor head as well as jet puke.

If you send it in they will install the part for free, if you order to part they will charge you for the part. After using the TX for a little while I like it better without the detents.

I'll bet that the shipping on a TX to get a "free" ratchet will be more than the purchase price + shipping of the ratchet to install it yourself.

I have seen very few people go back to a ratchet after flying with smooth for a little while.

I've flown helis and jets for a bit over 20 yrs now and wouldn't own a TX that had ratchets, i despise the ratchets when helping out a fellow modeler who has it on their TX.

Agreed ... what's the point of having radios designed with 1024 or 2048 bits of resolution per control, if you're going to use a ratchet that takes your resolution back down to maybe 30 bits or so ? ;)

Smooth throttles are for any motorized transportation device requiring fine control of power. Detents are for giant ships with engine rooms.

Detents work good on a locomotive also. :D
