My new F-4 Supersonic Eagle

After hundreds of successful flights and 13 years of duty, I retired my original Phantom (the first BVM kit built, initially with twin ducted fans).
I decided to build a new one with the same paint scheme as a tribute to the old faithful.
Power: Jetcat Titan
Radio: JR 9303 2.4
Ordinance by Dan Gill
Stencils by ProMark (All markings, including the Eagle, are painted).
4 flights ...... Awesome as every F-4.

Here are some pictures

VERY VERY NICE JACK AS ALWAYS.
I hope you have as many years with this one as the last bird, I saw your first one fly last at Florida Jets back in 2000.
Ad Clark, Addison Clark and myself all have one under construction now.

Very nice Jack! Hope to have mine completed here soon with A P-160SX. Ive been dragging on mine with the flying season here. Bring your Phantom to Winamac next year and we will get the BVM Phantoms up with Vernon, David Reid and Timmy. Nothing flies like a Phantom!!!

Nice Jack, as usual!

My F-4 also started life as a ducted fan but at 10 years old, I guess it's just a youngster.

Geeee mine is only 8 years old I guess it's still a spring chicken. Jack like Patrick said bring it to Winimac next year and rip it with us. Nothing is more fun than multiple F-4's in the air just trying to run balls to the wall.

On the subject of "oldies" and "youngsters", this is one of my favorite pictures.
Me and my Dad some 40 or 45 years ago.
The plane is an Astro Hog (or Smog Hog) I don't remember.
The radio is an "ORBIT Simultaneous Tone 8 channels"
I don't remember the brand of my Dad's fashion Hat either... LOL.

Great plane and pics, Jack.. the F-4 should perform slightly faster with the titan! ;)

Saludos, Enrique.

This is the Radio......
Ailerons and rudder are the two switches on the right, and elevator and throttle on the left.
By pulsing them, it will work as "proportional"... LOL.

Jack,

Those radios were also know as “reeds” because the rx had a bank of thin metal strips (reeds) that would vibrate when the tx switch was toggled, complete a circuit and drive the servo….all or nothing in one direction. You would pulse the switch to get a smooth control input. It really was the 2.4 of it’s day and all the big boys flew them in the top pattern competitions.

Here’s a couple of shots of my first Kraft reed radio and me learning to fly it in a Livewire Jenny (circa about the same time as your photo). Notice the sophisticated flight box.

Looks fantastic. I always loved your original F-4 can't wait to see this one in person. I tell you with all of these F-4s out there I may have to build another Thunder Bird.

Justin,

Where is the Cannon pod? That thing looks cool with it on.

The BVM Phantoms dont get more real than this! The SkyMaster Phantoms wants to be BVM Phantoms when they grow up.

Justin,

Is that the one you built and test flew with the 160SX? That thing is good looking.
Great job on the F-4 Jack.

This bird was built by my friend and mentor AD Clark. The engine P-160 combo for this ship is over the top fast. I am amazed on how well the phantom flys in any configuration. This ship is rock solid and very stable in the landing pattern. A keeper for sure. I'll be taking it to jet shows on the west coast.

Have a good one

Justin
