10x question
 

What would cause the flap sero to opposite deflect and then set itself properly when the TX engauges. I.e., when I turn on the RX the flap servo deflects all the way one way. When I turn the TX on it moves where it's supposed to be.

I have the Flap INH to use with the 3 way switch on the upper left. I know this is probably a simple fix, I just can't think whats causing it right now.

If anyone knows, I would appreciate the answer.

Andy,

Sounds like you've got a failsafe position programmed for the flaps (apparently unintentionally). That's the only thing I can think of that will drive a servo with the TX off. Check your failsafe settings and make sure the flaps are set to hold.

if your using a spektrum module, the rx was 'bound' before you made the program change to the flap.

again, if spektrum... simply re-bind with all the switches, etc set where you want for power-up.

If you are on 72mhz, it is most likely the failsafe condition

if you are on 2.4 it's most likely a bind issue.

ALWAYS TURN YOUR TRANSMITTER ON BEFORE YOU TURN YOUR JET ON.

ALWAYS TURN YOUR JET OFF BEFORE YOU TURN YOUR TRANNY OFF.

It's 2.4 module

Rebound - still does it

Checked failsafe - Says Void (PPM) - this is another issue I was not aware of

Made sure to follow turn on turn off sequence - still does it.

Any other ideas?

Correction!!! After rebinding properly it corrected the situation. I wasn't binding it correctly. Thanks for your help!!

And, I guess the failsafe is now in the 2.4 rx? The TX won't allow failsafe on PPM.

Ya, the binding sequence takes some getting used to. I actually rewired all mine with Y's going into the battery port so that I could bind anytime I want with a pigtail in the jet. You might want to consider doing the same.

I will. I was just told that after everything is set up a rebinding is necessary just a precaution. I need to make it so that it is easy to get to. Good advice. Thank you.

Hey Andy,
One word of caution. BE SURE you remove the bind plug before you fly. It's a simple thing but it can cause a real disaster if you leave it in. (Ask me how I know).

John, what happens in that case? Did you bind, and not turn anything off? If that is the case, I would think it would have done nothing and you would have been able to complete your flight, and if you had turned off and turned back on, the radio link should not have done anything (IE no control at all even to get off the ground).

So what's the skinny here?

I don't know the electronic particulars but it apparently de-senses the receiver to some degree. i bound my receiver in the normal way and did not remember to remove the bind plug. I took off and flew around close and trimmed the airplane (My BVM Electra jet). I then flew out a way and totally lost control. The plane crashed in the woods. I retrieved what was left and could find nothing wrong other that the bright orange labeled bind plug still on the charge port.
I have flown this plane several times with no problems. I now believe they put the "remove before use" ribbon on for a reason.

Well Andy, You know the old saying "You fly em, you crash em". I don't think I will get another Electra. Nothing against them, I just want to try something else. I am thinking of getting a Turbo Raven turboprop for my next plane. I am going to wait a while before I start it. It's going to be a fall project. I'm still debating between the JetCat and the Wren turboprop motor. I wonder if Artes is making a turboprop motor??

You got to let me be there when you maiden the turbo prop. That is what I want for a next turbine project.

BTW, we still have a burn ban on so no flying right now. We will plan a weekend when the weather breaks.
