RE: Ultra Lightning at last!
OK SO I asume you sanded the entire model, then primed and added your various color coats?
Was it originally an "all white" model or had color in the mold? |
RE: Ultra Lightning at last!
Looks good! What do you have powering that thing?? ;)

RE: Ultra Lightning at last!
it was a all white no paint in it
and i have a jet central rhino installed it pushes great |

ORIGINAL: Didier Hey Tassos. The carbon look-a-like plate is actually a plastic plate with a carbon print on it. Sandor of Digitech sells this stuff. The ''fueling'' line to the UAT is 4mm, from there the fuel line to the main tanks is 6mm. Together with a low voltage operating ''fueling'' pump the ''fueling'' pressure will be almost zero. Even if the fuel valves of the Jetcat leaks, I can't image the fuel go's through the not operating pump. Ofcourse it never hurts to install a ball valve after the pump. Will let you know about the maiden! [8D] Can you please send me an exact link ... I did not found it on his site. Thanks Amir Assal |

ORIGINAL: Didier After 80 flights with the Ultra Lightning/P-160SX combo, I swapped it for a AMT NL Olympus HP. Wow, what a difference in performance. :-) This is the first flight with the new AMT so it was more like ''to check for correct CG, dual rates/expo and mixers flight''. Surprisingly the CG was the same as with the P160SX due to the heavier components in the front. The only thing I had to adjust was my dual rates and expo's as the roll rate was much higher then with the JetCat. Anyway, happy with the AMT upgrade and the sound of an Oly is great! :D Thanks Dick for making the video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ar0IAxJ1jWA Thanks Kris |
RE: Ultra Lightning at last!
Sorry, I didn't make the video and the music was also not my thing. ;)
My Ultra Lightning with the Olympus HP is still very light. (TBM carbon tube, LiPo's, very light Jet 1-A/Prolynx gear, no cockpit tube) Dry weight is 16,5 kg or 36,4 lbs. My timer starts when my gear retracts and is set to 7 minutes with enough fuel left for a go-around. Top speed between a P-160SX and the Olympus HP didn't make that much difference. But ofcourse verticals are awesome and much much better dynamic flight performance. At Jets over Pampa we where flying full power all the time with 3 Ultra Lightnings. 2 UL's powered with a Olympus HP and Ali's UL powered with a JetCentral 17 kg thrust turbine. Top speed between the 3 UL's was almost the same and we where clocked at 410 km/h (255 MPH). People sayed they didn't see the difference in topspeed but it was noticable in the vertikal climbs. |
RE: Ultra Lightning at last!
Hey all!
I have a jet legend f-16 with a P-200 in it. I am considering this bird for my next project for my sport jet. I have heard lots of great things about it. I was looking for a jet that I can swap my p-200 to avoid buying a new turbine. So, I said it... Yes I want to Put my p-200 in this thing. Any feed back?? Dont call me crazy because I know I already am. I just love to know that 250 mph is in my back pocket :) |
RE: Ultra Lightning at last!
Didn't Shui fly his with a P200? He sure don't pull any punches when he flies and the airframe stand up to it no problem.

RE: Ultra Lightning at last!
Ihave a 180 in mine.. does 190 + plenty fast.. and the climb is awsome heve fun!!!</p> |
RE: Ultra Lightning at last!
I originally put a 160SX in my UL and although it was OK you were always up in the throttle 'driving' it around the sky. It may have just been my 160SX but I was left wanting more power. I was also challenged getting it out of our grass strip. I've since put a 200SX in, changed the thrust tube to a Tam unit, added 3oz of lead to the nose and the AUW is now 38.5lbs. I've yet to fly it with the 200SX but intend to in the next couple of weeks.

RE: Ultra Lightning at last!
I have flown my UL with both the P200 and P160. P200 is much better. With the p160 I was at full throttle for the entire flight. Now I can go into vertical flight with have throttle up a half lap early.
Shui was flying his with an Oly. |
