JR R1221 RECEIVER PROBLEM

OK, what am I missing. I've got 2 brand new 1221 receivers. I plug a charged 6 volt battery directly into the battery port of the receivers and NOTHING happens!
No flashing lites on the receivers, nothing. Both seem completely dead. What's up? ANYBODY

Hi Dave, they are fine-Not to worry. You have to have the bind plug in place the first time you fire them up and they will work fine. Give me a call if you need to.Scotty

Scotty,

That's the problem, the bind plug is in. I'm trying to bind the system and can't get either receiver to power up.

David S

MY BADD!

I had the bind plug plugged into the wrong slot. Horizontal slot on the top instead of the vertical slot on the end.

Glad it works. The Spektrum plugs with the minus on top got us all discomboobulated, now with the 1221s are back to normal JR convention with minus on bottom and binds along top. Scott

I have the same problem but have not been able to figure it out. I'm running a JR 9303 nine channel radio and wonder if the JR R1221X 12 channel receiver is not compatible with my radio. What radio are you running with that receiver? Do you happen to know if my radio is compatible with the receiver. Thanks

Sorry I re-posted as to request email when you reply. Thanks again.

Its compatable with that radio.

Make sure the bind plug is in the right port and you have the remote recievers attached.

1221 fully compatible with the 9303, even the original 9303 with a 2.4 module.

At least two of the remote receivers must be plugged in.

I had this same problem on a 1222, I sent it in to horizon and they said nothing was wrong with it. When I got it back, it worked fine. Still puzzles me to this day. Makes me nervous too..

RE: JR R1221 RECEIVER PROBLEM

That is a bit scary. I have a JR9303 with the 2.4 module. Never any issues. But thinking of using it with my first jet, and more channels would make my setup easier. So was thinking of getting the 12X and using a 1221. I've used JR for years and no issues. I'm on the fence with this first jet.

Somebody chime in and say there are no issues with the 12X or 1221 please. I'm sure many folks are using this combo with no issues.

Well I have had a 1222 in all my jets and havent had a problem..That was the first issue I have dealt with..Im sure somebody with more time on them can chime in..

David, I was puzzled by the same problem you had, and later found the above so true. At least two of them must be plugged in in order for the 1221 to properly power up. Do you have at least two satellite receivers plugged in?

I've never had an issue with the 1221s. During the build(s), I've only plugged in one satellite receiver to set up all my servos, and the 1221 has always powered up/binded just fine.

RE: JR R1221 RECEIVER PROBLEM

Same here
I have a 12X transmitter and a 1222 RX. I also could not get it to power up making the same mistake and had the bind plug in the wrong slot. I also sent it in to JR after I did get it to power up just to make sure it was alright. Been flying it in my F-15 all last summer and it has been fine. JR needs to clarify the instructions a little.

I did bind mine but the unit itself is steady led on and the satellites are blinken. Is this normal?

CraigG 05-26-2014 04:23 AM

They should all be steady Alf. Just do another bind and it should fix it.

Dave, I've had some my 1221's not work at all unless ALL the satellites are plugged in.

Maybe there are some ports that need to be plugged in? Or maybe all the ports? From what Harley says, it seems like only two need to be used.

And make sure you use the satellites that came with your 1221. I've used the new "DSMx" satellites with an older 1221 and could not get it to bind or work either.

affas 05-27-2014 09:12 AM

Thanks for all help!

What I did found out was that I did bind the model and got steady light. And if I turn the plane off and on again I get blinking rx and satellites. But if I turn off both plane and transmitter and do turn them on again I get steady light every time.

Strange or normal? Range check is done and it seems to be very good.

Turn on and fly the model?

normal.

If you turn off the model without cycling the transmitter power, the receiver picks back up the Tx on the original 2 frequencies that it was originally using and the LED's blink to give you an indication that the receiver had an intermittent power failure/disruption. Its described in the manual.

Yup, and this can happen if you have an intermittent connection with dean's plugs as well.

This most commonly happens to me when plugging in my batteries if I don't get a solid first time connection.
