Hello to all and anyone who is still flying Ducted Fan Models. I am just finishing a rebuild of a Byron F-16 and because of the modifications needed i know the CG needs to be checked. If anyone can help me with this info it would be greatly appreciated.

I would also like to know from any of you that have flown this model what you think.

My F-16 is set up with a ST 91 Large Head (square) and a Weston pipe. I have scrapped the Byron fuel system for a 24oz tank with the Iron Bay fuel regulator. I relocated the rudder servo to the rear with the elevator servo eliminating the long push rod that was useless. One of the reasons i need to check the CG. I will finish this week if anyone can help me!

I will post some pics when finished and would like to see what your bird looks or looked like .

I have 2 Byron F-16s but they are in storage and not able to be examined at the moment.

The CG is at the forward wing spar. I had a few hundred flights on these things with a Rossi .81 and an O.S. .91. Does your kit have the elevator servos mounted in the back next to the stabs? If so, then the O.S. .91 will work fine. If you have the old kit without the rear formers that the stab servos are mounted to (older version) then your vertical stab will flutter at full speed. You need to have a bulkhead that wraps around the thrust tube and goes into the vertical stab....otherwise it's flimsy as hell.

Well, given that i have 0 flight experience with the Byron f-16, you can get a copy of the manual from here

but it states that it should be 3 1/2" 3 3/4" ahead of the engine former for the first flights.... this is where the spar is so it conflicts with what Dave Presta's experience is..... i'm in the same boat as i just finished setting up the tailerons and rudder and am up to setting the CoG

I just checked the manual you are correct. I used to balance it where the rear spar plugs in to the fuse, just in front of the engine former.

Thanks for the input fellas, I went to Houston Hobbies web and downloaded the manual and watched the videos. Thanks for that info Dave (ticketec). I must have the old kit because i don't have a former that wraps the thrust tube and goes up into the vertical stabilizer. It is flimsy and i will consider fitting a former myself out of light ply.....Very light ply, so thanks for that info Dave P.
