Hey guys I finished my elevator assembly's last night. I just wanted to see what you guys think about them. I'm really not too crazy about the brass sleeve thing.

They are shown in the neutral position.

I would drill a hole tru the elevator assembly & shaft and pin or screw it.

Drilling a small hole is a great Idea, there is not a very large flat spot on the carbon spar. If you have enough throw I would move your push rod clevis down a hole or 2 on the servo horn, this will maximize the torque.

did your ARF come with a carbon fiber MD?

What do you think about drilling and tapping in some set screws through the face of the bellcranck for the elevator ?

hey pete

i dont like the servo mount how attack to the fuse...get hysol and make extra reenforcement

....also try to use all servo trow to get recomented throws on elevons...maybe you can go a hole in the servo arm /this way you save power..

..i agree for an antirotation pin.but dont know about drilling carbon...test in what force you can move the conection as is now...

if its holding good i would leave it as is and maybe glue it....good luck

well I put a good amount of force on it and she didnt budge

it still makes me nervous though

Ill wait to see who els chimes in, with their thoughts/solutions

Ok,

I've been advised not to drill through carbon fiber as it will weaken the system, So I just added some epoxy.

Pete, what servos are you using for the elevators? Are they a 56XX series? I also agree with Delgatogrande - the servo mounting plate to the fuselage sidewall seems to be a definite weak link in the whole linkage setup.

I'm using 5645 MG's

On a 6v system. 170 oz's. I was assured this is more than adequate torque.

The CF managment deck looks really cool!

If you are worried about the servo mounting plate coming loose, glue a piece of tri-stock to the plate at the bottom shelf. This will give more glue surface. Now laminate a piece of 6oz. glass cloth over the entire plate letting the cloth extend above and below the plate onto the fuse a couple of inches on each side.

Actually my main concern was the control shaft slipping in the bellcrank
