RE: Gyro questions

Wondering if anyone has tried a Futaba 190 gyro. I have one on my TREX 450 and i've upgraded it to another gyro. So this Futaba one is laying around, just looking at me to put it in something.

I was thinking of using it on my Jet Legend F-16.

If anyone has tried this gyro on a jet, appreciate some comments on it.

Regards,

Orlando

RE: Gyro questions

Hi Orlando,

Since you cannot switch this one off or decrease the sensitivity in flight, I would not be using it for a jet, except perhaps for the nose wheel steering. There it could be of good use.

Nicolas.

RE: Gyro questions

SpiderJets,

Thanks for the advice. I dont have the manual for this particular gyro. I'll consider another gyro then to put in my F-16.

Hi all

At the risk of thread creep...

Which control surface do most people stabilze with a gyro..I am guessing rudder or aileron?

Toying with the idea of putting one in my Bobcat.

Regards.

Phil.

RE: Gyro questions

I'm looking at putting one for the ailerons. I'll do some high speed taxi and see how the steering is. Guess I can always install the 190 for the steering as mentioned by SpiderJets.
I'd like to get a little less wing rocking while landing at higher wind speed. Hopefully it will maintain a better approach without all the corrections.

RE: Gyro questions

I do not understand your post very well.
The Futaba GY190 should be put in between the RX and the nose wheel servo.
It will track your plane straight during take-off, and has even more advantage when you apply wheel brakes (unvoluntary differential in braking between left and right wheel would cause your plane to turn)

The manual can be found on the Futaba website : http://manuals.hobbico.com/fut/g190-manual.pdf

RE: Gyro questions

Lately I have seen guys do smoking low passes down the runway... later I was told all these aircrafts were equipped with gyros. I would certainly consider using a gyro on the roll and pitch axis so even I could do those extremely high speed 2 inches over the tarmac passes...

SpiderJets,

Thanks for the link. I'll read thru it!

I was thinking of running a gyro on the ailerons.

I'll see! I'm doing some more research.

Try one of the ACT's, you'll love it.

PS. I believe my friend cairoman still has his Futaba's GY351 and GY352 (which were in the JL L-39 which I sold him, he took them out. PM him whoever is interested ?)

Question on Gyros and mixers
If you want to mix your servos and use a gyro do you have to do the following:

Have the $40 gyro after the RX and then the $12 mixer and next your servo.

Or can you use, lets say a $2200 14MZ with your mixes with in the 14MZ radio- condictions 1,2,3,etc and use a $150 to $250 Futaba Gyro GY351,or GY352 and then your servos.

I am setting up a SU-34 Jet to do high Alpha and I need a lot of mixing
