weatronic problem
 

I bought a new Weatronic dual Rx, 12-20 R Gyro on 35MHz, and though the software loaded into my PC off the CD, I have been unable to "install the new hardware" on my PC. It keeps saying the driver is unavailable even though the CD is still in place and it is in the Weatronic file on the hard drive too.
So my PC won't talk to my Weatronic Rx and I am stuck.

Is this a known problem?
Does anyone know of a simple fix?
Or should I send it back and get another?

Are you doin exaclty as per the manual? All is on page 6 of the manual. Other thing, what operating system is using your computer? Vista? May be you need to download the latest firmware in order to proceed. You can get all the updates from their website. Best thing is to contact them directly. You'll be ok.

Hi Dave, thanks.
I already emailed Weatronic and had a very quick reply from Alwin Mueller - Weatronic Support. But it didn't help.

I followed the manual exactly and all went well to page 8.
But page 9 didn't happen.
the "found new hardware wizard" could not find the necessary software on the CD, or the hard drive, and refused to talk to me any more.
I will try again to Axel.

The RxCtrl works fine with Vista but the NavView does not. RxCtrl is the program you need to set up the system. No idea why it would not work if you have downloaded the latest software.

I think I had the same problem. Let´s see if I can help you.

1 - You have to configure the USB port to comunicate with the receiver.
2 - Go to control panel, system, hardware, device manager, ports (com and LPT)
3 - See what is the port configured with the WR
4 - plug the WR cable and choose the port

Under "device manager" there is no option "ports (COM and LPT)"
Is it under another heading?

I tried that, downloaded the zip file and opened it.
I still get the same response

"Cannot install this Hardware
The hardware was not installed because the wizard cannot find the necessary software"

Someday, the geeks will develop and put in plain English, the layman's way of doing things. Kinda like the instructions for the radios. Begin to explain something on page 5, then refer to page 45, and so on. Why can't they just put it simply? Pick up hammer, lift over head, the slam down on your thumb! Simplicity, gone out the window!

I agree. Why can't people who fly models write the instructions manuals (and keep them brief)? I recently had a look online at the new JR 12 on 2.4 GHz and it's even worse than my old JR388 that I still don't understand.

The manuals for Boeings were so much easier (written by pilots). "To raise landing gear - grasp landing gear lever (shaped like a wheel), pull out of detent and move to up position. Only works if oleos not compressed by weight." or something similar.

A JR designer might have written "Supply hydraulic fluid at 3000 psi from system C into line 123", but it would take him 2 pages.

Is there a book written in English (even American would do) that explains to modellers how to use JR radios?

I could'nt agree more, had the same problem with my Evo12, once I learnt how to use the radio the manual became clearer!!

The problem is that it is the engineers that translate (or try) to English. They miss a step in their minds, thus you have to go from page 2 to page 22. If an American would only sit down and translate the bad translation to English and with simplicity (such as with the landing gear), we all would be happy. Isn't there a "2.5ghz X For Dummies" out there? I think RC Reports had a brief on the Futaba, could it have been written for the layman? And that brings up the other problem. Everyone that does reviews ASSUMES that everyone that reads it, looking for simplicity and help, is as experienced as they are! How about a new idea? Just perhaps the person reading a review is totally uneducated in the matter and is looking for a simple explanation!?!?!?!?!?!

I have 2 planes with Weatronic receivers, and whenever I need to make any adjustments and
connect my computer, the "hardware can not be found" as the original setup fails to find the right
driver. I have to stop the automatic setup and manually point to the folder where the drivers are.
Usually in C:/program files/weatronic - and then it all works fine again.

I have tried pointing the hardware wizard to the folder containing the file (or presumed to contain the file) but it still doesn't work.

Have you asked Weatronic why you have the problem? Did they answer?

Weatronic were quick to answer my first email. Their reply was
"the hardware wizard need to install device driver. You can also find this on c:/progam files/Weatronic/dual receiver tools/usb_driver"

They have not answered my subsequent emails.

Try this:

connect the cable it will make a audible sound that is has connected the cable
go to hardware manager
remove the port where the cable has connected itself to will be a usb port with a ? in yellow.
when it is deleted
take out the cable , reboot the pc.
then install the software first
after installing the software , plug in the cable and when it can not find the driver point it to the map where the drivers are located on the cd.
windows will give warnings when installing the drivers because of not allowed drivers or aproved by BVM ....uhhhhhhhhh windows:D
i bet you had connected the cable first and then installed the software.

1 if you do not get a audible sound when connecting the usb cable.

most mistakes are made with making the cable to the different boards wrong.
you canb chek by using a different usb device and test the usb port.
those things CAN burn out

Could be a bad cd, old info, missing data, etc. Why not get a new disc altogether? Sounds like you are missing a dll. Technical stuff, isn't it great?
