Jet Pipe Issue

1 Attachment(s)
Hi Guys

I was installing the jet pipe in my jet and I noticed that one of the mounting tabs is not as firmly attached as the other.

Here are pictures of both mounting tabs. In the good one you can see that it lies flat against the surface of the pipe and that there are several soldering points.

The one with the problem doesn´t lie flat and there are fewer soldering points and it feels relatively loose compared to the other one.

The question is, can I just drill a hole and put a bolt, washer an nut to attach it more firmly?, would this bring me problems in the future? what would you guys do in my case?.

Regards Eduardo

RE: Jet Pipe Issue

What a horrible piece of workmanship! I think if I could get inside with a rivet gun I would put a couple of stainless rivets in each tab so the flat part of the rivet was on the inside and if that was not possible then two M3 or 4-40 dome headed bolts on each tab with the nuts on the outside.

Eduardo,

It's probably not soldered, it's an attempt at spot welding. Try to find somebody with a spot welder and see if they can tack it back for you. It's not a big job and a lot of auto body shops have this equipment.
