Bobcat Stabilizer Question

Can anyone tell me why the Bobcat stab is shaped the way it is?

I didn't look at the bottom of the stab, are both sides shaped the same?

What advantage does the diamond shaped stab have....is this a form of lifting stab?

I am scratch building a project with tailbooms and the stab between the vertical fins and could/may use this design if I could understand the advantage>>>>>> thanks

BobCat Stab

Rod,
I think that the biggest advantage of the diamond airfoil, is ease of construction. The stab has to be thick enough to contain the elevator servos, and be easy to build. An airfoil of this type can be built on a flat surface, without the need for any tabs, feet on the ribs or any other construction aids.
As far as the aero qualities, a diamond airfoil acts like a symmetrical section. (It is symmetrical)
The stab provides lift to counteract the pitching moment of the wing.

Are you going to Deer Lodge this year? Hope to see you there. Write me offline.
