Someday I would love to have my very own Turbine powered jet. It could become a reality sooner than later and was wondering what I can expect to pay out the door for let's say the F-15 made by Fly Eagle Jets using a turbine from China that I hear can be had cheaper than others.

Also, would a Spectrum DX7 be sufficient? How much does the fuel cost? Should I consider an F-16 since it will require only one engine? I would love to see this dream come true but maybe I'm still a bit far off.

Nick,

There are MUCH better ways to get into turbines than a FEJ F-15 with a Chineese turbine! If you go that route, you will be frustrated with a model that has many issues that you will have to fix and an engine that is not reliable.

For a low-dollar into. to turbines, build yourself an R-54 and get a used JetCat P-70 or Artes Super Bee - you will be MUCH better off!

FEJ F-16 (1/6 advanced) $1,850.00
have them install gear doors etc. $100.00
Servos: $356.00 or so
EV5U valve: Saves Trouble and time: $285.00
Batteries: $120
Hysol 9462: $12.50
Airline: you will need as FEJ does a terrible job with this: approx $50

Total: $5,468.50

Then your going to need some sort of fueler ($199.00), battery charger ($70.00), CO2 Fire Extinquisher ($40.00 used), H2O fire extinquisher ($40.00 used), blower ($50.00) total: $399.00

Transmitter and Reciever: Price will vary from say $500 - $1500.00 for a decent radio depending on the amount of channels you want.

Now you can save a tremendous amount of money and time if you buy one already built but that can be risky if the build is not good or the components used are not up to par.

Fuel is about $5.00 per gallon around here. You will use about a half gallon or so per flight on this size. 10-15 min flights max.

I don't know I might have missed a few items but this is the bulk of it.

please don't go that way I already been there after 5 jet joe threw turbine blades out .bought jet central I estimate it cost me about 600 to 800 sending turbine back for repair if you are going to get in it save your self a lot of headache buy good stuff to start with

One can generally expect to pay about $300.00 per pound of model jet aircraft.

A little high. My FEJ F-16 weighs 22 lbs that would put it at $6,600.00.

The formula contains some constants and variables which I'm not at liberty to share with you. So all you get is a reasonable approximate. I, of course, would nail it.
