OS 77 Fan question

Assuming that it will fit in the airframe, will any 5" fan work on an OS 77?

I have seen 5" fans for the 46 and 5 1/4" for the 91. I have no idea what to put on my 77.

Are some better than others (I'm sure SOMEBODY has an opinion............haha)?

More blades, more static, less speed, right? That's okay here. Just trying to put together my first DF Jet.

Thanks

RE: OS 77 Fan question

Which airframe?

You'll have to get a fan that is pre-drilled to mount an OS77/91. The OS77 and 91 both mount the same. The best match for an OS77 is a Dynamax fan. If it were me I'd pitch the 77 and get an OS91, you'll be a lot happier. I preferred a OS91/Ramtec combination as long as the inlets were large enough.

Larry Wolf's old F9F Couger. He'll have to do his own formers so he can use the dynamax/.77.

RE: OS 77 Fan question

Didn't all OS.77 VRDFs suffer from a weak factory connecting rod? I know the one I ran had an aftermarket con-rod in it (RPM?). I saw a guy break 2 rods in one day in a Byron fan.

RE: OS 77 Fan question

I remember something about that Gary but don't know if it was the .77 or the .91. I never had a problem so can't say...
