Concorde to fly again on June 16!!!

Full disclaimer up front: This post originates from the official website of the Musée de l'Air et de l'Espace in France. I have already noted tomorrow's date (April 1st) and am crossing my fingers that this is real and actually going to happen, but it sure looks like it will.

That would be a truly horrible April Fools joke.. I hope it's real as well. The Concorde was one seriously amazing and beautiful aircraft.

Come on, it's April the 1st today....I just whish it was true too.
Keep in mind that the aircraft was very difficult and expensive to maintain, that they have trashed all replacement parts and that there is no support anymore.

April fool !

Lat week I had the president of the Royal Aeronautical Society staying with me. He is a retired Concorde captain (and was BA's general manager and chief pilot Concorde, only half a dozen more men have more time at Mach 2). If anyone outside of France knew anything, Dave (Rowland) would have been the man to know about it ! Nothing was mentioned which remotely alluded to this !

Anyway the C of A is withdrawn as was Airbus's design support and the curreent COE of AF, Jean Spinetta was instrumental in grounding Concorde, some say for political reasons.

Sorry guys, you've been had !

That said at least ONE British delta WILL be flying in 2009, the Vulcan now has enough funds to continue. Restoring the Vulcan was a massive task, Concorde would be vastly, vastly greater than that, sadly, its not going to happen.

Regards, David Gladwin.
