If one used a 12 pound thrust turbine turned down to say 8 pounds what type of problems might I experience. Applaction requires two turbines & 24 pounds of thrust would be way too much power for14 pound bird.

JHH is offering a wren turbine with 7lbs of thrust, I would imagine that this would be the best choice for you, most likely better fuel economy and lighter in weight. I think simjet is also offering a 7lb thrust turbine.

Got me on that one man... And I just checked out the Great Northern Models website and their simjet 700 isn't available yet either. But 3.3 oz a min sure sounds good. Good luck with the project, can we know what you're working on?

There should not be any problems. No one flies using full thrust all the time anyway. I don't know about the wrens but with a JetCat you can set your max rpm at whatever you want it to be. (up to the max rpm of course) you could also install a speed limiter just to make sure you don't overspeed your airframe. The other problem that you are likely to have is the increased weight, even if you were able to get the MW 44 you still have pumps, ECU's and batteries that will weigh the same regardless of whether you are using the 54 or 44. Fuel consumption would no doubt be less with the 44 but by how much realistically. I'm guessing you want them for your ME 262? Would definetly add a wow factor!

You can always turn the max RPM down on the engines ... but what about the min RPM ? Find out what residual thrust you will be getting & multiply it by 2, then figure out whether that will make landings tough...

Yes, they would be for a Me262, and for right now only the 12 pounders are available and who know's when the 7 pounders will be ready for the masses.

I would love to hear of your ME262 and how you are building it. My friend Walt has the original molds to Tom Cook's 262 and I was thinking of making one soon with turbines. Walt is in the middle of making a new laser cut scale wing design. The molds were obtained from the gentleman who used to sell them as "Airflare". Do you happen to have one of these planes?

The SIMJET-1200 can be set at 3 different power outputs, Low, Med, and High using the newly released Data Terminal.

From my experience with this engine in my FACET -1200 prototype, with an average flight throttle setting of 45%, it yields 4.2 oz/min fuel burn with the engine on "HIGH" or max power output setting.
