RE: Why does it always happen to the good ones??
Ali,
I hope it never happens again, but if it does, just stick to "I pulled instead of pushed" and save yourself the grief!;) Keep Smilin!:D David S |
RE: Why does it always happen to the good ones??
Gosh this is getting heavy, I just build jets and to be honest have been in the 'hobby' for only a few years, I thought politicians were bad!
I don't confess to knowing Ali well, but I do build a few models for him and he always pays great attention to supplying new and high spec components for all the jets regardless of size and final value, no doubt in his line of business it would be easy to supply items that have been used etc, but no, everything comes brand new - each time. I appreciate there are always going to be arguments for this and that, hey lets face it the human race is far from perfect, but importantly each does what he thinks is right, others should respect that decision - Life's too short;) marcs |

ORIGINAL: simont To Mr Gladwin I don't know you at all so have no axe to grind but the way you write your posts are so condisending and sound so elitetist that i feel if i had to ask you for advise i would come away wondering why i bothered. People like Ali and a whole lot more people inspire would be jet pilots with their aproachability and help they give without sounding as if they know it all. You may know or think you know more than anyone else on this subject but their is no need to come across as offensive as you do. Sorry if you think i am being offensive to you but as i say, i don't know you so can only know what your words sound like on here. Simon. Agreed!! I was going to write a nasty message to Mr know-all but you said what almost all of us here are thinking but in an unagressive tone which is nicer. I will say this: Mr Gladwinks, your constant boasts to all of us about your past positions of grandeur are annoying to say the least. Your attitude to other people and your lack of modesty makes it hard to believe you had ever reached the positions you claim. If I found out you were captaining the flight I had just boarded I would insist on being removed from the aircraft. If I found out you were going to be my training officer in our Hawk in the RAF, I would pull your ejection handle (over the ocean). There. I've said it. Ali, sorry for your loss. I too think you are an inspiration to all of us trying to get into this hobby. |

In fact the dictionary pretty much describes you perfectly when decribing the trait "an attitude of superiority manifested in an overbearing manner or in presumptuous claims or assumptions" however most of the people that i have spoke to since your post have described you as many things, none of which i can type on a forum :D Duncan |

I hardly think this is necessary or productive M |
RE: Why does it always happen to the good ones??
Agreed. Lets leave the name calling to one person on this thread.
The funny thing is I started this thread as a way of sharing information and trying to cheer myself up after a pretty big set back. All it has done has wound me up even more than I was when I started. I have never been a fan of this type of online fundamentalism where one man thinks he is doing things the only right way, I also am not overly keen on rudeness and arrogance in what is supposed to be a hobby for most of us. I respect other opinions and the way in which they conduct the hobby. I am just super glad to have it as my job, so I guess I will listen to the advice that I have been receiving and let the rope go. I dont understand David's rudeness ( or forgive it) But I think I have realized that there is not much point in trying to change it/ Him. Regards Al |
RE: Why does it always happen to the good ones??
Mike, your right it's becoming childish and pathetic but ...........
He started it LOL :D Maybe we can draw a line under this now. Everyone has their own way of doing things to achieve the same results, let's leave it at that Dunc |
RE: Why does it always happen to the good ones??
Agreed on that point Mike.
I think its a build up over many years affecting many people and then suddenly there's a chance to release steam! |
RE: Why does it always happen to the good ones??
Ali,
Nice picture of you and me with my Viper jet in RC Int. Joe C!! |

RE: Why does it always happen to the good ones??
This is all very sad and so unnecessary.
As far as I can ascertain, no actual cause of the crash has been determined and is not likely to be. Could have been the battery, might not have been, could have been the rx, might not have been, either way there is no proof that a twin system would have saved the model, its possible but no one knows, we can only surmise. Just recently a friend of mine lost a large-scale aerobatic model (with twin systems) and a small jet (single system) within 48 hrs. the fault? A loose wire in the tx! Single point failures are everywhere….they will find you one day! I know both David and Ali and have done for many years; I have always found them great guys, constructive and of course opinionated (as are we all). Yes, David can be a little abrupt, but I do not feel his statements were meant to be taken as insults. I feel he is just very passionate about the hobby and safety (as I know is Ali) it is just his delivery that is at fault. The crazy thing is that both you guys want the same thing, safe flying and successful models, you just express things very differently. I consider you both to be good friends of mine; I would hate to see you ending up as long-term opponents over an argument that no one can win. Regards Paul |

Surely after all these years of gas turbine flying one thing we DO KNOW is that integrity of power supplies is of the greatest importance, meaning two batteries, no argument, but no doubt some will.
