Powermax filling
What connector are you guys using on your trigger equipped powermax cans. I have the trigger valve from bvm, with a 4mm line, about 8 in long. I plug that into the check valve each time I fill. It sprays and freezes my hand when I disconnect it. Is there a better way??? If so Im sure we would like to see a picture.
Thanks Dustin |
Powermax filling
After every 2 or 3 starts, I spray some WD40 into the valve to keep it lubricated. The propane freezing makes the valve stick so it stays open longer than it normally would which is why you get so much gas escaping. The WD40 stops this sticking so when I disconnect from the valve it shuts almost instantly - admittedly I still get a tiny bit of gas escaping but I don't think you'll ever get around that!

Cheap filler valve
Dustin,
I use a plastic filler nozzel off of a W-D 40 can, the little red plastic thing......use the small red hard plastic tube that comes with it and put a short piece of the tube that you have on the end of your filler valve that you are now using. Works great. I am coming to Winamac Saturday, I have your engine and I'll show you the 15 cent filler valve. Ron Ballard |

Tetra valve
Dustin,
Try installing a Tettra valve at the end of your 4mm tubing. After filling the on board tank, turn the valve off and you will save the Powermax in the tubing that would have otherwise been vented onto your hand. :D The valves are available from Central Hobbies. I use them as the shut off valves for both the Powermax and the kerosene. Using the Tettra valve eliminates lubricating the festo fitting as you will no longer be using it. |
PM
If you leave the PM can connected through the start procedure most of the back presure will be releived. Otherwise learn to pull the line out quicker?!?!

....
what is working for me right now is:
trigger valve to short 3 mm to red spray tube for WD-40. This is on the powermax can. In the plane I have, check valve to 4mm line to 3mm line. The red WD-40 tube fits nicely into the 3mm line. I kept every thing short. I disconnect between the red line and the 3 mm line. I can post a picture later. Thanks for all the ideas Dustin |
Powermax filling
Hi there
All you need to do is ensure that the fill tube between the Powermax can and the Festo is as short as possible. What you are getting is the liquid gas in that pipe venting out when you disconnect. If is eight inches long, then it's seven inches too long. |
