FlyCam One Video
Velcroed a flycam to the belly of a Boomerang for a test. I think I will mount it on the horizontal stab this weekend and see how that looks. Better quality vid than I expected.

<span style="font-size: small">Hey Bud
Cool video!!! Much better than I would have thought. I think I noticed something stuckin a tree on one of thefly by's but I could not be sure, plus a impact crater of the end of22 but Iguess it could have been some sort of topographical anomaly.http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/js/f...sn/biggrin.gifhttp://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/js/f...sn/biggrin.gifhttp://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/js/f...sn/biggrin.gif </span><div style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt"><span style="font-size: small"> After you called me out at the field I got the DV8R down and started back to work. RE: FlyCam One Video
LOL, I have not thought about that but you might be able to stop the frame and see what's left of Andy's F-18, part of it is permanently mounted in that pine tree. http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/js/f...ey/msn/lol.gifhttp://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/js/f...ey/msn/lol.gifhttp://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/js/f...ey/msn/lol.gif
That crater your Facet left on the end of the runway has disappeared.http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/js/f...sn/biggrin.gif Get your butt going and get the DV8R ready!! |
RE: FlyCam One Video
Hi Brian,
You'll find that the video from the bottom of the stab will look much better ! This is because it offers a much better perspective and you see most of the aircraft in front of you. I had the flycam on my kingcat first on the nose and later on the bottom of the stab , you can alo see the Main gear retracting and the touch down. Xantos |
RE: FlyCam One Video
I'm glad you didn't add any music to it. Nice video...

RE: FlyCam One Video
Just a quick note for any one else using the older/early version of flycam.
I just uploaded the new software for mine off the Flycam web site, this lets you rotate the image before you take the video. Atleast you can put the camera on top or underneath and get the video the rightway up. Might be useful. All the best, John C As said earlier the further back on the airframe the better, plus you can watch gear retracting for fault diagnosis. Amazing how useful this little piece of kit is. |
RE: FlyCam One Video
Thanks John I was wondering how to rotate the image if I mount it to the top of the stab.

Actually, I think this may bethe crash remains still left in that pine tree:

RE: FlyCam One Video
Have you got any tips on how to upload the fireware? Every time I try it, it fails
Cheers Duncan |
RE: FlyCam One Video
Duncan,
I cannot get the new firmware update to load either. I am getting a message that the "device fails to initialize" Andy - I beleive you are correct. Maybe another recon flight is in order. LOLhttp://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/js/f...eeth_smile.gif |

Hi guys,
It took me three attempts but got there in the end. Don't know if the attached will help you. Hardest part was remembering to hold the mode button & not the picture take button on start up. Should work though mine did & now get options to flip video etc. regards, John p.s. If you have the updated version you just press the centre button for 2 seconds then recording is inverted. The wording on the Flycam inverts so you now it has done it. |
RE: FlyCam One Video
To get the flycam to initialize correctly you have to turn it on and goto the PC function then turn it back off before you plug it in. I was having the same problems with this until I did it thie way and then the update worked the first time.

RE: FlyCam One Video
Hymn still not working. I installed the software, restarted the pc, connect the camera holding the middle button, plug it in and it shows PC. Then I think I'm going wrong. I click on the fireware exe file and it come's up with "can't initialize". What are I missing?
Should a program start up when the can is plugged in? Cheers Duncan |
RE: FlyCam One Video
Duncan,
I am having the same problem. |
RE: FlyCam One Video
Brian,
Thats really cool. I'm surpised at the quaility of that video. How low was that pass? Cody |
RE: FlyCam One Video
Cody,
That pass was not that low, about 3 feet. I need to get Kevin Whitlow to mount it to his Bobcat. Depending on where it is mounted he would scrap the camera on the runway.http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/js/f...sn/biggrin.gif |
RE: FlyCam One Video
Hahaha, I witnessed that low pass. The lowest pass I have ever seen for that matter!

RE: FlyCam One Video
<span style="font-size: larger">Duncan & Brian,
The mode button is the top button not the middle one. Hold the top button when plugging in on connection to the PC. That was the problem I was getting. It should then find the Camera & ask you to fill in the Dram size & destination,90 seconds later all done. Hope that helps, John Once it is all installed then you use the middle button to flip the view prior to filming. </span> |
RE: FlyCam One Video
LOL I realized my mistake after I posted. I managed to up load one fireware but not the one that allows me to invert the camera. It's says that no software could be found.

ORIGINAL: Mace I'm glad you didn't add any music to it. Nice video... MACE A perfect song for this would have been "Black Hole Sun" by Soundgarden. Nice aerial footage though...except the black hole where the sun should be. Impressed with the otherwise quality of the video and the color. Liked that low pass. Paul |

<span style="font-size: larger">Hi Guys, & Gals if any,
Just got back from flying field. Had to wait while the rain passed over. Managed a flight with the camera on top looking backwards using the inverted video capture mode. Don't know why it stopped recording when it did,but what came out seems O.K. Paul, No music just lovely Turbine & wind noise need to turn down volume on speakers, don't say I didn't warn you.http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/js/f...wink_smile.gif Plus a couple of Sun spotshttp://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/js/f...ades_smile.gif& even got a couple of smoke loops & a smoke stack. Great fun. All the best, John http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u7mD8JudRcE p.s. You can tell how much rain we have had when you see the field behind the runway & pools on the strip. Over 4" in 24 hours.http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/js/f.../sad_smile.gif It was our clubs Flyin the day before but had to be cancelled due to the continuous rain. </span> |
