Comp. Lightning
HI all, I am really curious to know if any one has not had the tires come off their Lightning, if they did come off, how many flights did you get before they fell off.

RE: Comp. Lightning
Intairco made a batch of soft tires that came off the rim very easily, most came off on the take off roll when new they didn't require any wear and tare. i had these on my Flash but they replaced them free of charge.

There have NEVER been any tires that just spontaneously came off the lightning, and I dare anyone to prove me wrong!

CHAD,
YOU SHOULD AT LEAST GIVE CREDIT TO THE PILOT WHO DIDN'T HAVE BOTH OF HIS TIRES COME OFF ON TAKEOFF!http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/js/f...n/rolleyes.gifhttp://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/js/f...sn/biggrin.gif Pete, Mine came off on the maiden flight! That picture was two years ago at Sin City Jets. So they must still be having the problem. DAVID S |
RE: Comp. Lightning
Mine fell off on the maiden.
My plane did a 5 min flight faultlessly and came back and on landing did not stop since the brakes did not work and it crashed on a fence causing damage on the maiden on the right wing. Composite ARF did not accept responsibility although they knew about the problem. Very poor support by them and imagine this was my 3rd plane I bought from them within a year. Composite ARF has a very poor support, very poor support after tens of emails they did not even bother to change the wheels for me. Anyway thank god there is INTAIRCO and Peter. After my short adventure with Comp ARF I contacted Peter and wow what a service!!! Within a week new tyres AND RIMS arrived to my house. I wish I knew about this problem earlier. Tassos |

Dave,
I didn't see any need to start naming names. Snitches get stitches around these places!:D |

Rcpete,
My Lightning also kept throwing the tires off. Like the pic above, bothmanaged to come offat Winamac a couple years go. Itried gluing them on, but they'd eventually come back off. Igot a new set of Intairco's and they were fine, no problems. Switch to BVM Mig-15 wheels & you willNEVER have a problem. They are 4" with 1/4" axle (fits stock 6mm). You just need to make a brake ear adapter for your strut. Also, BV's brakes are literally 2x the dia. of Intairco's - so stopping a 40+lb jet is no problem. I'll talk to you more about the Lighting at Winamac.....Scott |
