T22 Warrior (Christen Diffusion)
I couldn't find very much info about this jet when I wanted to buy it, especially no video of it flying. So now that I have it, I decided I would post a little info about it online.

The jet is a full fiberglass airframe. Fuselage, wings, stabs are all composite material. Light and strong. Wings and vertical stabs are easily removable for transport (1 screw each). The Jet is a sport/trainer model. Mine comes in at about 12.5kg, fueled up and ready to go. I have a jetcat P160 in it and with 2.8l of fuel I can fly 8-10 minutes with throttle management. The jet flies very good and is forgiving, as a jet trainer should be. It has the typical high alpha characteristics of a deltawing and I haven't discovered any bad habits yet. The canards are mixed with the elevator, not with ailerons. The plane is sensitive enough on ailerons alone, but on elevator it's a bit slow, so the canards help out nicely there. The tailplanes are divided in 2, each with its own servo and can be wired to operate seperately as elevator / ailerons (recommended by the manufacterer) but I have them both operating as tailerons (as if they would'nt be separated, kinda like in a funjet) It was my first fuel jet after about 1.5 years of experience with ducted fan models (shumate F-14, het-rc F-20 and Lubach F-16). I (re)maidened her myself and I can recommend her for beginning fuel jet flyers. If you take off from grass like me, you'll need to put a fire resistant plate under the rear, to keep the grass from catching fire. (It doesn't help for your nerves when you set the grass on fire as you are doing a final check before maiden with engine on. Believe me, I know ;-) ) Hope this info can be usefull to someone. 15 flights now with the jet and though it is not a scale bird, I decided to add some missiles to improve realism :-)
Fastest I've gone so far is 298 km/h airspeed (measured with eagletree speedgauge and pitot tube). But airspace at our club is rather limited for a jet, so I think it can go faster with more room to accelerate or dive. On a front view you can see that the jet has a fair amount of anhedral, but it still flys very stable. |

Actually I already saw that one on the website of Christen Diffusion. Is was that picture that inspired me to do the missiles :-) I made the missiles myself from 2 broken CF tailtubes of my helicopters and some balsa. Did you make those wingtanks yourself or are they available from Christen diffusion ? How were they attached to the wings (removable ?) I also like the camouflage paintscheme much better than the current one I have. Did you repaint the model or was it painted in the mould like that ? Thx for the congrats erbroens, I'm totally hooked on turbine jets now :-) |

HI,
The wingtanks are avaible from Christen Diffusion. They're attached to the wings with two plastics screws on each. Concerning the camouflage, the model was painted in the mould in beige . The brown coulour is only large adhesive tape ! |

Thx for the info Warrior !! I think I'll add wingtanks too, but first I have to get new springs for my landinggear, cause the old ones are elongated and the jet is a bit low on the ground now for wingtanks underneath.
Took some pictures in flight last weekend and achieved a new topspeed : 328 km/h. Not worldshocking, but not bad either I'd say for a trainer :-) |

I don't know how much the kit costs either, bought mine ready to fly on the used market :-) Best bet is indeed to mail the manufacterer. Website is in the first post.
I have the jet-1A trailing oleo's on mine cause I fly off grass. With the springs worn it goes through it's knees and gets pretty low on the ground. Will get me a new set of springs on the Jetpower fair in germany in 2 weeks. |

Unfortunately last sunday was one of those black sundays at my club with 5 planes crashed. Mine was one of them.
I had changed over to DTE light oil and had emptied the fuel tanks for that. Apparentely I didn't get all the air out of the fuel system and about half flight my turbine quit with a trail of white smoke. Ecu said fuelfail. I was fairly high when it happenend and I tried to glide it in, but coudn't make a decent approach from where the plane was without passing over the parkinglot or the public. So I made a difficult approach, which went ok until I pulled the landinggear down. I must have pulled the stick a little while flipping the LG switch and the jet went into high alpha for a moment and then dropped a wing and nosed in from about 3m high. Damage looks bad but only the nose is damaged. Should be repairable. Extra weight of the repair is not so bad since there was 450g lead in the nose. Gonna put all pieces together with CA and then put a 80g fiberglass cloth inside to strengthen it again. Sanding, spacling, sanding and painting and hopefully it'll be as good as new ! |

Repairs are comming along slowly, but surely. Looking like a T22 again :
Also a picture of an airbubble in the fuelline. Probably one of its parents made the engine flame out :-) Lesson learned : when the UAT has been empty, check the whole fuelsystem, especially UAT and the sac inside it, toroughly for airbubbles and purge while tapping all valves and filters. |

Ouch T22 Warrior, that looks like a 'perte totale' indeed :x too bad ! any idea what caused the radio failure ? Was it on 35Mhz or 2.4Ghz ? I myself fly on 35Mhz pcm and have not have had any failsafes so far (I check them after every flight)
Another question T22 if I may : do you remember what servo's you had in the wings ? In mine are 2x2 futaba S3150 (3.7kg/cm) which I think may be a bit weak. |

Repairs are comming along nicely. Found a small crack in the cap of the fuelbottle and replaced it. Also noticed the fuel line in the bottle was getting hard and replaced it.
Glassing is done, front gear is back in and pneumatics have been reinstalled. Also moved 2 electronic airvalves to the nose, which should save me another 40g orso in lead. Batteries were moved forward a bit and the whole thing was testfitted and checked for balance. I'm gonna be able to remove 160g of lead out of the nose. |

No idea concerning radio failure and every components was damaged during the crash:( I used 41Mhz (and still use)radio, with two battery. Servos was Multiplex Royal Digi. Now i use a Emcotec dpsi twin with two receivers on same channel without any problems :) i'm waiting for the 2,4Ghz for my Multiplex Evo12. |
