Options for mini servos..
Supposedly the SM F-18c does not allow for a standard sized servo on ailerons.
I have read that some have used the JR DS3421 mini. Specs are: * Size Category:Minis and Micros * Type:Digital * Torque:65 oz/in @ 4.8V , 75 oz/in @ 6V * Speed:.18 sec/60° @ 4.8V, .15 sec/60° @ 6V * Dimensions (WxLxH):0.58 x 1.30 x 1.02 * Weight:1.04 oz * Bushing Or Bearing:Bearing * Bearing:Dual * Motor Type:Coreless * Gear Type:Metal I really would like a bit more then 75 oz. Any alternatives? |
RE: Options for mini servos..
can't recommend an alternative, but the 3421 is up to the job, had them on all but the flaps on both my A-4s and never had a problem with them. use the metal geared, not the SA versions.

Thank you.

3421's should work perfectly for the Skymaster F-18. Just be sure to keep the arms short to get the most out of the servo!

I use Futaba 3151 in ailerons and rudders on mine |
RE: Options for mini servos..
Pete,
Don't worry about the Jr. 3421 servo's. I have them in my CT-114 and they are plenty. If you are worried about that. Reg. your voltage up a bit. Folks in this hobby tend to over Eng. in this and other areas and the big 3d machines caused that mode of thinking. With sealed surfaces and less throws on these jets you just don't need 3d power. It least not on the smaller to Mid birds. Like KC said just keep your arms short for more torque. |
RE: Options for mini servos..
Ok then, I will go with the 3421's and short arms. Thank you guys..
I also have 8611's planned for flaps and elevator as well.. This will be my first "JR" ship. I have always used Hitecs. Thanks! Pete |

Pete,
You will love your JR. What TX are you using? I use a 10X for my jets and love it. Roy |
