t33 flies

I have had this Byron T33 sitting around for about 4yrs. I bought the kit here on RCU and also the Ram 750. The problem I had was getting it to the field for its 1st flight, well Don Reger and crew made me drive the 60 miles to get the job done. The first time out we needed to change some things and they did. The next week we made that 60 mile trek and fired up the ram 750....there will be anice learning curve there. After range and taxi testing we had othing holding us back. Don taxied outto the centerline, opened up the throttle and headed to the sky. Well it did need some trim adjustment....left aileron but after that, it flew pretty good and nicely scale. The landing was a lil tricky , got a lil slow . It did realign the nose gear but that was it. We discovered why all theleft trim waas required, the wing tip tanks were mis-aligned and we also need to shorten the nose gear and add a base loaded antenna. Wish I could edit the tape for you guys but it ws just good to finally see the T33 in the air. The Byron makes a nice turbine conversion if you can find one, go for it

Thanks guys. This jet gives me an excuse to travel to the jet events. I modeled this after my neighbor a Tuskegee Airman. I call it my ," What If" the war went an extra 6 months. I am sure the T33 could have been produced as there were at least 4 P80s that made it to the european theatre during the war, but with no actual combat but sorties were flown.
