EVSD-5U Warning!!
I just wanted to post some info for you guys out there that may be having some problems with there valve not operating properly. I bought one brand new from Todd at Dreamworks last week and installed it in my F-20 a couple nights ago. I powered it up and programmed it and what not, filled the air tanks and proceeded to test. Well, I got nothing, no doors moving, no gear moving, not even any brakes. So I start my troubleshooting, reprogram the valve (several times), check that everything is connected right, and check again. I finally pulled out the valve and made sure nothing was blocking the flow down the line. I hooked up the compressor directly to all the airlines and was able to actuate the doors and gear and brakes, so my plumbing was good, had to be the valve.
So next I tested the valve with nothing connected to the ports, nothing! just a little dribble of air out of Valve 3 and the was it, the exhaust port was working too. So I am thinking the solenoids are bad. So just for fun I decide to remove the air nipples that you screw in and check them. BINGO! I come to find that there is some glue or something like that blocking all of my air nipples!! I took a 1mm drill and drilled out all the gook. Not sure how it got in there but all 5 were blocked!! So if your valve is not working as it should remember to check thos screw in nipples for blockage.[:@] |
RE: EVSD-5U Warning!!
Ian,
Do you think this happened after it was manufactured (heat melted the glue later) or do you think occurred during the manufacturing process? Chad |

Thank you for the Heads Up ! ;) Semper Fi |
RE: EVSD-5U Warning!!
Hmmm.... Odd! The nipples are not even installed on the valves from the factory so I am not sure where the FOD would have come from. I'll check the remaining stock to assure no others have this problem. I have had one report of a nipple not being drilled at all but FOD blockage is a first for me...

RE: EVSD-5U Warning!!
Not sure when it could have happened. 2 of the nipples were ok Todd but 5 were bad. The obstruction was like a tanish/brown color, like the color of one part of Hysol 9642, the dark color, and it was hard, I could not push it through with a pin that's why I had to drill it. I just wanted to let everyone know mostly to save Todd's time and their time of having to ship the units back thinking the solenoids were bad or something like that. I love the valve! Just one more thing to check when everyone is troubleshooting!
Chad, I think this happened post manufacturing as the blockage was not any kind of metal, it was something else. But that is just my guess. |
RE: EVSD-5U Warning!!
Ian, It is strange! Checked every unit in stock and they all seem to be fine. Must have been from the bottom of the manufacturing bin [:o]
Thanks for the heads up however! |
RE: EVSD-5U Warning!!
No problem Todd, just wanted to try and limit an extra amount of work that could come your way when it could be fixed pretty easily. ;)
