wireless video camera
Does anyone have any experience with onboard wireless video cameras? I'm looking at putting one in the wing tank of a bandit. The system at http://www.hicam.com.au/pro100.htm looks to have a pretty good range but I don't know what to expect with respect to turbine noise or interferance with the RC reciever.
There are a number of prebuilt systems that are advertised for use in heli's or rockets but I haven't seen any discussion of jets. |
Eyecam
Check out the review of the eyecam on RCU:
http://www.rcuniverse.com/reviews.ph...ew&reviewid=47 They show some pretty cool video taken from an RC Plane. I bought one to install in my Kangaroo. This unit cost me $250. Unlike the one you mentioned, this one has no audio. I hooked it up to my TV, and the picture looks extremely good. I haven't had a chance to test it out in my Roo, but will do so ASAP and will post a report specifically about the use of the eyecam for Jet operation. Floyd |

As you noted, a lot has been done with on-board video in the model rocket community, both live and taped. Some of these folks are also active in the RC world. A good place to start is:
http://www.videorocketry.com Under "Technical Notes" you'll find a lot of information on how commercial systems, like the X-10 (www.x10.com) have been modified for on-board use. They also operate a mail list forum that you could join to ask about RC experience in the group. Hope this helps, Paul |
