Prop Version Kangaroo
Hi: I'm bying a kangaroo that can be fly with glow engine. But not sure what engine to install? Some of my friends are having problems with the OS 1.60 and it's not working well neither with pump and biger fuel lines. What other engines can be used to take the max performance to this jet before installing a turbine?

If you use the RCU search feature and search for e.g. "kangaroo prop" then you will find a number of threads discussing the prop version of the 'Roo, including some discussions of different engines in use.

A couple of years ago I had a Kangaroo with an OS 1.08 hanging off the back. The plane easily struck the prop, and does not fly the same as with a jet.

The ROO with the OS 1.60 setup performed for me with no problem. But you have to used a Cline PCFS Fuel system and for added security, an on-board glow driver.
I didn't have a single dead stick, & got my Turbine Waiever with it. I don't know what" the plane easily struck the prop" is, that never happened to me!. And of course, it's "does not fly the same as with a jet". What ever that means. If you do it right you will not have a problem. MB |

Anyone put a OS into the Rookie?
I know that it's not the Roo, but maybe somebody design an engine mount that sit on to of this plane. |

ddang!
I don't know anybody that do this on the Rookie. It is a nice plane but the engine goes inside the fuse. You have to look for room for the eng. and pipe, suficient air to cooling the engine and for ground prop clearance. I'm decide in the Roo, because it let me install an OS eng. on top of the turbine mount. This gives the prop more clearance from the ground. I'm not saying that can't be done to the rookie, but have to make sure you have enough ground clearance for your prop. Remember a 16/10 prop is a big prop, I think going for smaller diameter prop will help. Can you imagine what would happen if the prop hit the ground at full speed when pulling up elevator? If the plane gives you room for installing an OS go for it and let me know if you succeed. Good luck! avicom |

I never intend to put the engine inside the fuselage. I was thinking mount it on top like the Roo w/ a special design mount.

Hi guys
The Roo just arrive!!! And it comes in perfect condition and the finish looks great. It's all ready in a static display for an RC show tomorrow. Of course without the retract's; just fit parts for the display. As soon I finish the building I will send more info. Not sure yet if installing a glow engine or go for the turbine. My friends are pulling me hard for the turbine. Maybe I sell my complete equipment of kite-surf. I love this sport but it's killing my back. And flying models don't hurt my back. Thanks avicom |

i,m just starting mine & it,s getting a st 2300 with a 16-10 3 blade pusher & a perry pump.. once i get used to the plane a turbine gets strapped on..any one try this setup ?? i,ve seen one with a saito 150 that flew well & my supertigre has a little more power than my saito150 so it should work well if i keep the weight down.. any input ??? thanks rob m
