USAF T-33 Scale Documentation source
Hello all. I am building a T-33, and wish to detail it to a very high standard. I am considering using Flite-Metal, but want to choose a USAF T-33 subject that is very well documented so as I can possibly use the aircraft for competition.
So, my question is, can anybody recommend a USAF scheme that is very well documented, that is images from all sides, as well as close up detail? Museum subjects may be suitable only if restored/preserved correctly-then there is the problem of not being able to take pictures from all angles, etc. All input is welcome. Best regards, Frank |
RE: USAF T-33 Scale Documentation source
Frank, what kit is it that you are building?

RE: USAF T-33 Scale Documentation source
Hello ram-bro,
The kit is a JMP T-33, so the size allows a lot of detail to be incorporated. Regards, Frank |

there are a lot of schemes out there, BVM has some great three views, also you can try airliners.net or try a squadron signals walk around

WhoDaMan, the aluminium/yellow livery T-33 is a good subject that was re-painted at a later date to a Canadian scheme. The problem is finding close-in detailed shots of markings, panels, vents, etc, as airliners.net will not have these details.

Frankie,
I am building a JPP T-33 as well. I live here in Kansas City near Tom Cook. What are you doing for your cockpit? I am working hard to figure this out. I have the full tub from Tom for the full depth Cockpit. Also, I bought Dreamworks Lights to modify. Are you using another type? I got custom grills laser cut. Would it be helpful for you to get a set. I can arrange them. Let me know if you need pics. David Thomson |
RE: USAF T-33 Scale Documentation source
Hi David:
Like you and Frankie I am also doing the T-33, I would love to get a set of those grills. I am working on the cockpit and I did pass on your request I do hope that Mike will contact you on this. Please let me know what I need to do to get the Grills David |
RE: USAF T-33 Scale Documentation source
I saw a JMP T-33 flying at Hamburg this fall. It looked FANTASTIC in flight. I spoke with the pilot and he said that it was a pleasure to fly. No real issues in the air or on the ground. :)

T-33 paint scheme from the 27 FIS from 1956 era used for instrument training and towing targets. I flew the full scale with the 27 FIS (Rome,NY) 1956-1958. Mine model is BVM kit.

RE: USAF T-33 Scale Documentation source
Hello guys, nice T-33 pics!
David, I didn't realise that a full depth cockpit tub was available from JMP. Has this always been the case? Thank you for the offer on the gills, if you don't mind finding availability/price and if they are all included, or if it is just those that are on the side of the inlets and not those on the underside? Pics would be good if you don't mind. I have ordered a set of Details4scale lights to use on my model. I am beginning to realise that documenting this aircraft will be difficult. Regards, Frank |
RE: USAF T-33 Scale Documentation source
Frank, I have a bunch of T-33 pics here. If you need pics, maybe I can get copies made.
I will ask about the price of the grills. Send me your email address to [email protected] and I will email you a pic of my grills and splitter plate installed. Can you email me the website for the lights you selected. The Dreamworks needs to have lenses made etc. I have been to Melboure last year. I love the hook turn :) David |
RE: USAF T-33 Scale Documentation source
Good starting point for cockpit detail is this site. A lot of detail and some pretty good links to other T-33 sites. Of course, always go to airliners.net for currently flying T-33's,some really nice documentation photos to be found.

I just started flying a cook T-33 (9flights) and it is a fabulous jet. Rock solid in the air and on landings, you guys will enjoy your T-33`s when you start flying them.

I have plenty of close up pics for reference as I am involved in a 'long' term project to build a Skyfox which was based on the T33 hence my 'stock' of pics.
PM me your address and I will burn a CD and post off to you. Sort of detail shown in a few pics attached. marc |
