Fuel pumps and valves

It seems the most expensive bit of kit for a second turbine instalation is the pump and valves, (ECU exempted) anyone have any experience on using some of the cheaper alternatives?

Well this post made it to page 4 and nobody replied, so everyone must use the original manufacturers equipment, which means that all aftermarket equipment sales don't exist. LOL

Gaspar is the right price on valves. [link=http://www.xicoy.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=169&osCsid=37i1d0dukd cafmimb4trbaqo67]Here you go[/link]

Thanks for the reply, unfortunatly I use a 3 cell A123 for the ECU so those 6volt valves won't last long I think.

If you look properly Mike, he does 12V ones also!

RE: Fuel pumps and valves

Looked properly and his 12 volt ones do not work on 7.4 which is so close to the max voltage of a 3 cell A123 that I use, I possibly will not get enough flights before having to re-charge, all seems to be a bit of a compromise, the pumps on that site are all 6 volt or do I have to look properly again. ;)

RE: Fuel pumps and valves

I thought a 3s A123 was 9.9V.

I was refering to the valves at 12V, not the pump.

RE: Fuel pumps and valves

What concerns me is that at 9.9 volts with a Kero start, ECU, starter motor and smoke pump all working off the 9.9 volts after two or three starts I am likely to get very close to the threashold where the 7.4 volts may come into play under load, whereas at the moment I can get five starts and flights with the 3 cell A123's, looks like I will have to use the JetCat parts after all, if I can find nothing else that will work within those limits.

RE: Fuel pumps and valves

Mike,

All the engines that use a 2 cell lipo (or 3 cell A123) are using 6v valves. I believe the ECU regulates the voltage to the items (I know it does to the pump)

Even the 12V engines, such as the evoJet, use a 6v valve. The ECU regulates the voltage to the valve. (thanks for the correction Arno!)

Thanks for that, I learn something new every day and it seems to be from you most of the time. LOL ;)

You need to pick better sources of information! ;)

Mike,
What size 3cell A123 pack are you using for your ecu?? I typically can get 3 flights on a 2300 pack, maybe 4 with kero start. You are getting 5 flights??
V..

RE: Fuel pumps and valves

I am using a normal 2300Mah on a 120SX JetCat, I can get up to five starts as long as I have primed the fuel tubing before the first start and have not drained the fuel too low, I don't use a UAT and my fuel lines are short, so the pump does not have far to get the fuel into the turbine and my starts are very quick compared to others with the same turbine, this uses less power on each subcequent start.
