Anyone using Hobby King batteries?
 

I'm curious if any one here is using Hobby King Zippy/Turnigy/Rhino batteries for their rx/ecu? I just bought some 2200 2s Turnigy packs for $9.00 and 2S 5000mah 30C packs for $20. I have over 20 HK packs ranging from 4s-6s for electrics and they've been just as good as Thunder Power and Flight Power batteries.

Just curious to know if any one in the jet community has used these packs.

Hi ,I`m useing three 3700 rhino batt in my boomerang XL and have over 90 flights and no problems .There`s alot
of electric guys here in Texas using them both in copters and jets plus planes .I know four guys besides me in our club
that have been using the rhinos over a year with no problems . Ken

Same, I have heaps of their packs with no problems what so ever including my EDF converted Byron F-16 which is pulling 104Amps from 11s 5000mah packs.

I have just bought some 2s 1200's and 2200's for my Wren 54 and Falcon120. If they are that good in all the other applications i can't see why there should be a prob in a turbine model?

I'm using them in my electric models & I use a 2s 1400 mAh for the ECU for my Wren SS.

No problems at all.

The more I use lipo's the more I think they all come out of one or two factories & the label determines how much you pay. - John.

Using them for both ECU & Tx. A123 for Rx. No problem so far.

I have 2 packs of 5s 5000mah

so far so good. I have guys at the field tell me they are junk because they puff right away.

Turns out they are running them full power out of the box. They need a little breaking in and they are perfect.

hundreds of flights with no issues. have them in all my jets for ecu's. 2s 5000 or 3700's

I have a ton of these batteries. The rhino and zippy batts are good. You can get a bad one once in awhile, but generally I havent had any issues with a good pack. Their 40C packs rock! My electrics are different planes with those 40c packs.

I am using a rhino 2s for my ecu.

I just picked up some a few weeks ago. I purchased two 4S 5000 and 2 5S 5000 pack to use as 8S and 10S packs and they have been great! I just placed an order for some more as they have performed as well as my Thunder Power packs for a fraction of the price. I don't know if they will last as long, but if I get half the life then they are well worth the investment.

I'm using these in my foam EDF electric jet and in my Electric Heli and PZ electric FW190/T-28

They are way better than the TP packs I spent triple on as far as run time and punch.

I use them for just about anything from FPV to Aerial Photography. The Zippy batteries are some of the best.

I had two Hobby King 2000ma units, thsy seemed good new but the one went dead within a few weeks, and the second one which I did not use much a few months latter does not hold a good charge.

Which batts were you using? I dont care much for the Turnigy brand batts, HK, or even the HXTs. Those can be hit or miss. If you stick with the rhinos or the zippy flightmax I think you will be happier. The rhinos are a tad better IMO.

I'll never use anything but a zippy, almost punched a hole through one and it never puffed ,whined or sneezed. Charged it up, and off it went Baby,...Ye-ah!!!!!

I have a fistful of the 1500 Zippy Flightmax's - love 'em. No issues at all. Got a Rhino 4900 but havn't tried it yet.

I am using Rhino's for RX and Hyperion G3 for ECU

I fly giant scale electrics and the LiPos used in turbines for RX and ECU will not be put under anywhere near the same load as when they are used as a flight battery in electrics where 30C and above batteries are pushed to the limits.

The Hyperion G3 is 35C and is overkill for the ECU.

What i believe is most important to check on lipos for RX and ECU is that they are balanced cells

I use 3x3700MAh RHINO batteries in my LIghtning. NO problem.
And 10 little 360mAh for indoor flying...very good batteries !

I purchased 2 packs for my Telemaster 2 years ago. They died after 2 years of mis-use. Yes, mis-use I never ever balanced them. Amazig good batteries. Have more on order (this time I included a balancer in the order).

The guys at the filed all use them, and I have not heard any complaints at the 3 fields I fly at...
