Does anyone know when will the JetCat P-70 be available for us mortals here in the US without a waiting list?
As I can't Wait any longer and might have to get a P-120 instead.

JetCat seems to artifically limit availability to keep their prices up on both new and used engines. I don't fault them for this, but it makes their engines hard to get. There is a select group that seem to get first dibs on engines when they are available.

There is more than one way to skin a cat-If you want a 12 pound engine there are many out there-Just as good as Jet Cat-Look at the Wren 54 or the Artes Bee or the TJT Deamon,PST 600, SimJet, FTE T-500 or SWB Mamba. A very good rumor has it that Wren will have a 17# engine out very soon that is about the same size as the 54. Peer pressure doesnt stop at high school. Scott

I was told by a supplier that Jet Cat decided to continue a few more high altitude tests and other tests before releasing the engine. He said it would be another 3 weeks and that was a week ago. So, look for them around the end of the month.

I wanted the P-70 beacuse it's a 16 pound thrust and slightly bigger then a 12 pound thrust, perfect for my application.
I will keep trying to get it.

I figured I would let this go, but then maybe by my silence someone might think there was an ounce of truth to it (no offense intended, diceman)

We make these motors as fast as we can, given a set of business realities. You guys read the other posts about how small the turbine market is and how much competition there is and then expect someone to go in and invest a bazillion dollars in order to make a ton motors. If it were that easy then there would be 20 different motors (and companies) like JetCat...notice that there aren't...and no high volume either..no OS turbine, no Thunder Tiger turbine...you get the picture.

We are in it for the long run. We intend to continue to innovate and support our existing products. We cannot just pump a bunch of hype and push motors and then disappear. That is not what we are in this for.

We do not take deposits. We take orders. You place an order with a dealer or direct. When the motors are available, Justin calls you to complete your order. No mystery to it.

All I know is a couple of years ago, Bob and I were very excited, as we were about to get our first rep, Mr. John Redman. We were getting hammered on this forum and others, about how our technology did not work, we were new, XYZ were the king and anyone was stupid not to buy them, etc etc. John took a chance on us. BTW he was the first one to "Make the Switch" (that's when I came up with that)

Now we are accused of withholding motors...incredible!!

Condoe_won, if you have not ordered yet, I suggest you call and order one. There are 2 groups of 50 motors due to come in, and if you are on the list, then if someone does not buy, you will move up.

As to when they will arrive in the USA, about 7 days (UPS International) after they are ready :-) Seriously, the high altitude testing we do has taken longer than planned. When I know more I will post it. As for whether that is another 3 weeks (I have not heard that, does not mean it is not true), I will try to confirm that today.

We will continue to try to put out (and support!!) the best product we can.

Please understand that I like the JetCat product so for you to post your reply the way you did regarding me is a bit out of line. I have never had a bad thing to say about JetCat, and in a thread about three weeks ago I offered considerable praise for their product. And, still do.

My concerns are over the marketing policies of JetCat not Bob and the guys in Calif. They don't control much of that. The 160 has created some problems. There are still buyers waiting that placed orders before Superman last year. All of those orders were to be filled in about 3 to 4 months. Lots of hype not quite- lived up to, and very hard to get. 120's are hard to get. I really don't have any reason to believe the 70 will be much different. If it is I will be one of the first to acknowledge the fact.

I was simpley discussing the facts, and it's nothing to get defensive about. JetCat is a pretty darn good engine!!!

I thought Chris Huhn, Jason, Torey, etc. were the first JetCat reps.

1.) I have been informed that someone named "Chris Huhn" was really the first rep. Anyone know this guy? :-) Seriously, Chris test flew my first plane years ago, there is no one better. It's just that John just flew a particular brand we were going up against!

2.) As for the original post, the P-70 availability of 3 weeks seems OK now. I would add another couple of weeks in my mind though :-)

G'day Matt,

Unless I screwed up somehow (Again ???) when I looked at the AMA doc 519, the P70 is not yet listed as being AMA approved.

Can you tell me whether the doc is just out of date (dated May 29th), or whether P70 approval is ongoing ? If the latter, any idea when completion can be expected ?

The AMA approval is "in process".

I really don't want to say anymore than that as I feel that the process has become a whipping boy for some anti AMA people (certainly not meant to imply you)

We are in contact with the AMA and we do not anticipate any shipping delays as a result of the AMA approval process.

Well, actually, John never even flew that "other" brand engine. But he did make the right choice!

High Altitude Testing
 

Matt, you mentioned high altitude testing in one of your earlier posts. I'm curious: Where is this high altitude testing being performed and what particular aspects of altitude-driven performance parameters are being evaluated?

I am not an expert in this area, but from what I understand the high altitude testing is conducted mainly to determine the stability of the flow through the compressor at all power settings.

The Germans are bringing a couple I might try to fly one in my old Rookie this week.
