Skymaster 1/8 F-16

On CG location, the manual says 135mm to 145mm.. Whoever is currently flying this jet....what is the most comfortable CG setting???

Try 160-165mm for the CG. I fly mine at 165mm. You will be very nose heavy at the manual stated CG setting. Many threads on the Skymaster 1/8 F16 have discussed this.

Skymaster 1/8 F-16, C.G. 165 is my next move. I started with 145mm and it was way nose heavy, moved to 155mm and was much better.

I am working on the pull/pull nose steering system.

The cables get hooked on the nose strut and will not allow the nose to extend.

Have you seen this problem.

Normal issue,
change from the wire through a hole , to wire around bolt, so it can rotate freely for 90 degrees.
hope the picture shows, this way it wont hang up anymore.

I can see the fuel tube it looks very workable, my problem have also been the wire tangle in the strut.

Moved the CG to 165mm and it really made a big differance.

The wires need to go through the wood former or need to be kept aside by elastics when retracted.

I just placed some masking tape from one wire to the other and that keeps them separated, as well as away from the nose strut.

And for better balance results...don't put the rudder servo....you don't need it..http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/js/f.../thumbs_up.gif

I never thought of useing tape that is a very good idea.

I made standoffs with trangle 1/8 ply and use yellow nye rodd to guide the wire works good.

I have one with a P70 and one with a P80 both with only stock fuel tanks but I use a taxi tank for start up and taxi onto the strip. Flight times are 6.5-7 mins with the P70 and 5.5-6 mins with the P80 with plenty of fuel left for landing. Depends on your flying style though. I am not a "belt around the sky at full throttle the whole time" guy. I prefer to fly my jets scale-like and use the throttle.

With the c of g at 175 you only need 40-45mm of elevator travel as you are not having to fight a nose heavy aircraft.

Hope that helps.

Craig.

Crag,

I have the P-70 and a 16oz. header tank two mains and the BVM UAT< useing a start up tank as well and set the timer for 6 Mins and have fuel left in the header tank and some in the main. I as well do a little full throttle flying but most of the time it is scale flying I that is the way I fly.

I am going to up it to 7 Mins and see.

The wt. less fuel is 22 lbs.

I am looking forward to flying this F-16 more now that it is not so nose Heavy. I was thinking before when at 145 to 155 c.g. that is not at all fun to fly now at 165mm it is much better.

Pat

RE: Skymaster 1/8 F-16

Hi Steven,

Skymaster have some. I used one of theirs in one of my F16's and I hand carved the other one out of balsa. I like my one better![8D]

Try skymaster, I know they have some for the F16.

Hope that helps,

Craig.
