Question for Factory Reps

I think I have convinced the board of directors to take a look at the use of turbines at our field. We have a strict 98db noise limit that no turbine would ever be close to making. I think they can all agree, though, that the noise signature of an in-flight turbine is much less obtrusive than a 2 stroke piston engine.

I think it would be informative and fun if we could get one of the reps to come to the field, put on a short presentation and ground school and give some in-flight demonstrations. We could do a few sound checks and everyone could become familiar with turbine operation. Maybe a couple of different configurations, open and closed engine installations.

I am going to bring it up tomorrow night at the meeting and wanted to get some info before I go. We are in northern Ca, so I know there are a few rep's in the area. Thanks for any info.

Bob

BTW, we have a 400' by 50' asphalt runway.

Question for Factory Reps

Thanks Chris. I sent one to the address listed on the BV website. We may have met last year, I was only there on Sunday afternoon last year though. I am gonna take a day off of work and come down for the whole day on Saturday this year. Let me know if there is an email address that you would prefer I contact you.

Jet db`s

Hi,

Try to convince them that the db`s fall way off once airborne, unlike the piston bangers. Last Saturday there was a club member at our field with a db meter. We know that a turbine in the pits at full pipe is 100+ but on a full speed low pass over the centerline with my P-120 powered A-4 the db reading was 79. Throttled back its much quieter.

Vin...
