Well....

I have ordered a big Hawk and delivery date is before their holidays. In a week I will have an answer to your question, but I am sure they are doing their best to fulfill their compromisses.

I guess that if you order a paint job, it will take much longer. Mine is comming white.

Good luck

Nuno

i pay 100% all the ammount for small viper from 18/12/2009 .
was going to be delivered mid January and i still wait too.

thinking about not ordering again from there .

in some good site say this :

When you order it today end pay 50% and the rest 50% 2 days before shipping we send it to you out in 2-4 working weeks.
When we do not send out the product in the given time, you can request a money back of 5% for this item!

RE: SkyMaster shiping delay

All the while us idiots (and I include myself in that description) continue to pay 100% up front nothing will change, refuse to pay up front, i.e. don't buy the product and let them know why, they will change the policy very quickly if everyone does the same.

I ordered first a color scheme that would take four weeks, but changed the order to another as they had in stock (according to them). it took 2,5 months before I got
anything. Will never pay in advance anymore, forget it!

Edit: i have correct myself a bit. It was told it was ready to ship in one week, i received it after 9-10 weeks.

Wow, thats terrible. Maybe you could order from the USA and get them faster?

crhammond 02-03-2010 11:33 AM

RE: SkyMaster shiping delay

This is normal for them - I paid up front and waited 4+ months last year... when I ordered I was told the jet was ready, only needed paint and I would have it in 2 or 3 weeks!
That said taking the $ up front and making people wait doesn't seem to be slowing down their popularity. If they actually gave an accurate date at least you could make an informed decision.

In the end I was not happy with what I got and won't be ordering from them again.</p>

RE: SkyMaster shiping delay

I have no problem with waiting 3 months for a plane, if i only could trust that it will be delivered at the correct date. If you have a high work load...why not say so...

But i do have problems with waiting one more week....one more week...2 more weeks...soon ready to ship the plane...only one week away:)

As a skymaster dealer I have to sympathize with you guys. Unfortunately this long delivery delay is something that is becoming more and more apparent the busier the factory gets. I am now quoting my customers a 12 week delay on any kits ordered. Even then there are cases where even this delivery delay is exceeded. I have been told that the delay is due to A) Popularity and b) The fact that nearly all the kits are hand painted on the outside ( Not in the mould ) This process is quite time consuming as allot of work goes into getting rid of seams and defects from the mould, then the paint is applied and nearly all the schemes lots of detail and markings is also applied. This part of the production process is the most time consuming and also the most skilled. The number of workers trained to do this is much lower than lets say lay up or construction. The upside is that you as a customer can order custom schemes and when you get the finished article it is ( In my opinion ) The best of the artf manufacturers out there. ( Thats just my opinion, before anyone trys to change this thread into a who is best war )
I know this doesn't make it any better for you guys who have had to or are still waiting for their jet. I hope Anton reads this and trys to alter things within the company to lessen the delay. I will speak with him again about the issue next time we are talking. As I too have customers who are getting edgy about some seriously long delays.
Regards Al

For me the problem isn't the delay, its the way they kinda misleads you in to believing that the model is almost ready to ship, and have you order it-when in fact he model isn't ready for 2-3 months!

Al, i agree on you, but some of the things you are mentioning, are things that they should take in to consideration when they calculate a delivery time. And Skymaster should know by now that painting custom schemes takes time!

SKYMASTER: its okay to use some time building and painting just give us the facts when it comes to delivery time when we order, we are all like children after we have ordered something, but it really helps mentally to have a date that you can trust, that being 1 month or 3, no problem!

Im trying to be constructive in my criticism..

yes i agree with you , George is great guy .

but when the factory say mid of January ( for the viper painted in the mould ) is mid of January plus 1 week no problem .
but now we are talking for end of February ( including the China holidays ) .

if i know the real estimate delivery i dont order it , because other is 4 weeks and other 10 weeks . ( i take something other )

end i see the delay delivery is not only in Greece .

RE: SkyMaster shiping delay

Hello all concerned SM customers,

Anton is very much aware of this situation. It is just as frustrating for him as for you. Unfortunately there are things in the production process that can not be changed unless the prices will drastically increase.

SM uses different fascilities to produce the jets. All of wich are sub contracted. When 1 of these lines are waiting for parts from another line the problem starts and escalates. Landing gears are produced in batches of 100 for obvoius reasons due to high costs of CNC work. If jet no 101 are sold there is a huge problem because SM have to order another 100 sets of LG for 1 customer. When a new jet are produced, 100 sets of LG have to be ordered. This makes huge planning and sometimes delays not even SM could forseen. I know it is a management issue and got nothing to do with customer problems. But maybe some will understand better.

Anton has send out mail to customers waiting for Viper that LG will be ship from Taiwan via EMS. The rest of jet incl installed air tubing and gear doors will be shipped (all hope) before chinese new year.

Most of the delays are due to LG not in stock or painitng factory gearing up for custom paint jobs and other painting lines have to halt. There is only 1 painitng factory and to do a custom job set back production by at least a week. If we rush the painting and make mistake it costs 1000's to rectify. So not easy to do neatly and correctly and fast.

I agree that better comunication is needed. I can not see that the situation will change soon because of the back lock and popularity of certain models. BUT... I can not remember ONCE of customer not receiving what he paid. I do remember 100's of free parts shipped world wide to customers if SM at fault or not. Customers do not have to pay 100% before shipping. SM accepts 50% before shipping and rest when shipped. The only problem is the double bank costs for both parties. SM will never produce a jet if customer not pay 50% upfront. And in certain cases we had customers changing colors on jets after placing and paying order which did not do anybody any good. SO please accept SM apologies and trust us that we are working 24 hours to solve these issues. The wait will be worth it.

Regards

Morne

Anton - please help.

I ordered a Viperjet in Sept from Great Northern Models - received the kit in early December which was fine. The kit however, did not come with gear door cylinders and I have still not seen the replacement units. I have tried to work around this doing other things in the build but it's now at the point that it is holding things up.

Love the airplane just want to get her ready for maiden.

It would be great to see and since it is new it will be a learning thread also.

Just an idea

i received me too after 7 weeks (order 18/12/2009 shipping 05/02/2010 delivery 10/02/2010 ) the small viper mould paint , with 3 weeks delay from the delivered correct date ( mid January ) , but without the landing gear this is other problem .

The landing gear are scheduled to be sent until the end of the month, to see will come in time , because the Viper will be ready to fly this Wednesday , and to fly certainly needs the landing gear.

RE: SkyMaster shiping delay

Well....

Based on my experience, I cannot say that SM is delayed. On the contrary they are just in time:D

I have just received my Big Hawk and it looks superb:D, but (why is there always a BUT?????????????????).

I have ordered it with a Powerbox RRS special combo (I want to install double rx) and got the Powerbox 40/24. I have just e-mailed John about it, but Anton if you listen, any comments? I sure would prefer to have waited a bit longer and have it the way I ordered:(

I am yet about to experience the first correct supply in the jet scene. Oh, yes, it happened once with Dreamworks.

I soon will post some pics, but the thing is gorgeous. I am about to request some help regarding paint schemes. Saw the new 2010 paint. It's awesome. Any ideas?

Regards

Nuno
