Guys.....Smart-Fly question.....help me understand!!!

So fellas.....in my last 5 jets I've used the Spektrum 6010 regulators straight to a Spektrum AR9100 receiver simply for convenience. I have 2 brand new 2000 mah Common Sense 2s Lipos that I want to use on my GJC F-15 and I just cant grasp the set-up. How exactly does it work if I want to use a Smart-Fly Turbo Regulator? Battery with Deans connections to the regulator, then regulator to the receiver? No switch needed? The power is "on" when you plug the batteries into the regulator or is there a switch needed at some point? Just not getting it.....when I used the AR6010 regulators they connected straight to the receiver and they had independent switched for each reg.

Thanks in advance

Spence

Spence,

The Smart-fly turbo reg has a switch option that you should use. Its a "fail safe" switch in that it makes contact (i.e., switch closed) to turn it OFF. One thing to note is that the Turbo Reg. (and other regs that have this "fail safe" cutoff) draws about 20 mA when its off, so you should unplug it from the batteries at the end of the day - or else it will drain them flat...

I think it only draws 5 mah while in the off position. But I agree, if I am putting the plane away for more then a month I unplug the batteries.

Also if you don't want to buy a switch. A Spektrum bind plug makes a good switch.
