Bob Parkinson

I would like to share my experience attempting to purchase plans from Bob Parkinson.

At the beginning of December 2009 after speaking with Bob on the phone and several e-mails I sent him a check for Barracuda plans. After two and half months with no plans delivered I requested a refund which he agreed too. It has been three weeks and still no check.

I would like to warn the RC community that sending money to Bob Parkinson may not be a good idea because he is not delivering on his promises.

I know this has been written about before on RCU and shame on me for not listening. I hope no one else makes the same mistake.

20 years ago I bought one of his very crappy ducted fan kits. LOL, what a joke that thing was. A bunch of sheets of plastic that the builder was supposed to roll up to create the fuse and some foam wings that were supposed to be covered with this thin white plastic and the instructions said to use 3M spray on glue. Hahah, I'll never forget trying to get that kit to work. Biggest waste of time I have ever spent trying to build kit.

This guy has been AOL for a long time. I'm surprised you found an address to send money to.

I too am surprised there is even a place to send $$$ to. I wasted money on one of his kits about 14 years ago!!! JUNK!

sorry to hear about this again
i thought this guy finally went to prison
i sent money for a kit over 20 yrs ago never got the
kit or even my money back even after being told i would over and over again.
i finally gave up and i think that is what he hopes most of us will do.
this should be a sticky so no one else will get burned.
if you are out there Bob lets hear your side ... we are waiting........................................

You know, the guy obviously has marketing talent. Its ashamed. Had he spent half the time putting out quality products and actually delivering them as he had on marketing his name he would have been a great success. Sad really.

I am trying to get his web site removed from Juno. I sent a complaint telling them of Bob Parkinson's criminal practices. I also am sending a complaint to the US postal service since he used the mail system to steal. It is stealing when you take someone's money and not deliver.

I just really want to warn everyone to stay away from him. I really thought I could trust him after speaking to Bob on the phone and several emails but it is just not true. He promises and promises but does not deliver. He just hopes you will give up and go away but I will not go quitely. I am going to pursue this as far as the legal system will allow. It is a small ammount of money but he needs to be shut down. This is just not right.

I had built a Regal Eagle ten years ago and the only reason I received that kit was through Tower Hobbies. For a short time you could buy his kits through them.

Pass the word.

nothing has changed, same story as far back as 1986 for me, trying to source a Regal Eagle without success, I'm surprised this is still going on...

That is where I bought my junky kit, Tower, about 1997 or so....

Hello::)

I have the Barracuda plans and instructions. I made one for Ramtec and O.S.91 ago some years.

Very fun for fly, but very bad kit. The value for the money is expensive. It is more cheap and best if you make it.

Regards from Spain.;)

Carlos.

Gents,

Years ago, I dealt with Bob. I purchased an Arrow and F-15 pusher jet from him. Everything went smooth and as expected. In fact, I wish he still had those kits. They were a hoot to fly.

Sometimes, It seems Bob does exactly what he says,

I had a Regal Eagle back in 1984. Went together easily and flew great. I liked that fact that back then it was about the only thing that did not use a cheater hole. BV came right after in 1985 and I have never looked back since.

But overall, the Reagal Eagle was a great bird if you were on a budget back in the day.

The stories over the past 15 years here have been the same, he takes the money and seems to never deliver. You should do a search on him on RCU, it will really make you think.

I still fly a regal eagle with a OS91 and ramtec fan, flys great, my first introduction to jets 20years ago was with his smaller Vector eagle which also flew very well.
It's a pity they are not available as the regal eagle is such an easy jet to fly and a good low cost scale'ish trainer for a wren 54 or similar.

Well I Was curious so I sent him an email and he replied, I enquired about some wing cores, but when I asked him to ship COD that was the end of the emails, so I know his email works and he is recieving them.

Thats because he doesn't do COD he does CIA and then he keeps the cash and doesn't send the product. Why isn't this guy in jail yet?

Dunno man, maybe Canada works different than the US, its too bad he had to turn out this way, he could have still been making money, well legitemately instead of ripping people off.

Its a shame that Bobs taken the route that he has taken, I bought his F-18 kit many years ago and with an OS 90 and a Ramtec fan it flew great, I wonder what happens to a person to get the reputation that they now have, when they used to be fine

RE: Bob Parkinson

Just want towrite an update on my first post.

Bob Parkinson did finally send the plans certified mail after three and half months. He did not include the much needed instructions that contains needed information that is not included on his very poorly written plans.

I had sent emails to the web host for his site, the United States Postal service and a website that I linked off of RCU to report internet fraud. I also contacted the local police twice in an attempt to pressure Bob to return my money or send the plans.

I still want to caution anyone doing business with Bob Parkinson. You do this at your own risk of being ripped off. Anyone who would like plans or information please contact me via email. I would rather help out a fellow builder than have someone experience Bob Parkinson's business practices.

His current web site is rcjets.com and ph is 705-549-8820 Location Penetanguishene, Ontario Canada. Based on his pass track record I think I would think twice about doing business with him. Its buyer beware, you might get what you pay for, more than likely you will just lose your money. Based on his pass history it makes me wonder why people still try to buy products from this guy. Do search on this form and read the many sad experiences people have had dealing with this guy.

Rather disappointed to hear about all the problems with Bob Parkinson. I just dug out an old kit that I had started 7 years ago. Wanted to see if I could get this thing in the air.
Was hoping to speed up the build process by not having to build the wings by getting some foam wing cores from Bob.
Also, in having moved twice, have not been able, as of yet, to find the box with all the plastic goodies-tailcone, belly pan, thrust tube, etc etc.
Hate to have to manufacture all that stuff, my time for building is not what it use to be. Anybody have alternative route for wing cores and accessories?

I sent an e-mail to Bob Parkinson, no reply yet.
Little concerned about possible crap-shoot on getting any items from him.

I have had some plans drawn up for this...
My plans are to have it done up as a short kit. plans, canopy, foam cores and hopefully some glass parts such as hatches, nozzles, etc..
This is the current prototype, and I am still to test retracts to see which are the best for it.
It was designed for smaller turbines, but could possibly be upsized..
this all depends on the level of interest..

Looks good rorrock, they are a great flyer and ideal starter jet for the 14lb turbines, I have one with a OS91/Ramtec fan and might think about converting/re painting it if I could get a new canopy etc

RE: Bob Parkinson

Xair,
This isnt actually a regal eagle.. It was designed by an aeronautical engineer based around a 3 veiw for the outline..
The prototype you see was the work if the hand drawn plans he provided were buildable..
The next step is to transform these into CAD drawings and a 3d view.. Then build a second prototype for flight tests..
If people want I'll do a build thread on here on that prototype.. It will be done from a set of laser cut parts that will eventually make up the kit..
