What are everyones opinion on these? Think they are gonna be the new thing? What are your experiences with these? TIA :confused:

Right now, they're the power source of choice for very small EDF's (Wemotec microfan sized) and in the near future, they may well become the hot ticket for all EDFs. They presently cannot deliver the high amp discharges like Ni-Cads and now NiMH's, so you have to build paralell batteries to handle the draw. This makes them a bit expensive for the larger fan sizes. However, the prices are coming down and the amps thay can supply are going up. They well may become the hot ticket, at least until a new technology emerges.

Check out this websight and look under the batteries and chargers section. It shuold give you alot of answers. Lipo's are already changing the face of larger prop models and smaller one's as well. Some flight times are exceeding what glow models can do that including edf's. It is however very expensive still and just starting to come of age. It shouldnt be long before it really takes a hold in the market. Good luck in your future projects.

FMA already has LiPo packs for Rx use. I think they'll be available for Tx when the prices come down. I think the biggest hurdle to LiPo's in Tx's is the form factor. Manufacturers are not going to change their tooling until they're certain the market will accept the new batteries.

Not totally true. Yes you need to build combination parallel and series packs, but there are several people running them up to 65 amps without issue.
