Does anyone know where I can obtain a reference source for the F16 color scheme used by Gustavo Campana at last years Top Gun?

TIA Ross I've seen 1/32 scale plastic model kits with details and decals for this scheme (maybe Revell, can't remember)...but the easiest way would be to do a search for Gustavo and ask him where he got his info from. I have done a search at Hannants but could not find anything in their catalogue. I would really like to find a plastic kit as they generally have good colour details. I will continue the search! Cheers Ross |

Thanx v.much. The second link was great. More than enough detail with the two photos I found in a book I had on my bookshelf. This is not a WJM model simply sport scale but I wanted a different color scheme. Now I all I have to do is finsih the plane! Sigh, so little time.... |

If you need any further references (like you can ever have too many!) Daco Delcals make transfers for this scheme in 1/32, 1/48 and 1/72 scales. While the decals will be no good to you, they come with excellent doccumentation the will allow you to faithfully reproduce the scheme.

Ross,
Not exactly what you're looking for but since you're a Tiger fan check out the USRCJC web page regarding the Tiger Meet (Western Hemisphere) that was held here in Colorado two summers ago. Here's the latest from Canada's 2003 AIR DEMONSTRATION CF-18 http://www.airforce.forces.ca/4wing/...r_Crew_lar.jpg |

Cool scheme! How do they do that? Are the stripes painted or vinyl cut? Seems like a lot of trouble for a once off colour scheme?
Thnx Ross |

Ummm..
That F-18 was painted just this last winter. The canaidan airforce paints one of their F-18's every year and it flies in airshow across north america. I actually saw that one this year at the Winnipeg International Airshow. It's from 4 Wing Cold Lake, Alberta (410 Cougars). Last year the Paint scheme was of a hornet. Can't wait to see what they'll have next year. |

Ross,
All those tiger schemes are painstakingly painted- no vinyl. The Belgians in particular have a knack of doing some of the most incredible artwork on their F-16's. (My avitar is from my Y/A F-16 painted to match their 1998 entry to the Tiger Meet- it was a real "pier 9 swimming" lesson in airbrushing!) To add insult to injury, those schemes only remain on the aircraft for a few months before they are returned to their original squadron colours... |

If it's worked, here's a photo I took of an F-16 at last week's Air Tattoo at Fairford.

tiger stripes
two bobs sells these in 4 different schemes you can go to google and type in two bobs and on their web site look for tiger meet and you should be able to find the graphics they ar 1/48 scale and can be applied to any airframe but they look the best on the f-16
www.twobobs.net then to sold out items and then to 1/48 th scale then to tiger meet of the americas you can see what they look like but I have searched for hours on the web multiple times and have never found anything I could buy but photos can give good reference also a good site for stripe painting tips and how to: http://www.finescale.com/fsm/pdf/tigerstripef16.pdf Also some good photos (best I have seen!) for how the overall scheme should look front, back, bottom, and top photos!: http://204.50.25.179/features00/f16da_1.htm hope this helps anyone interested! |
