About $500 USD :D:D:D

The link above is a good comparison;)

BTW I have a 12FG and I feel it is a good radio from a user standpoint, however; I am a bit nervous about recent reports of (pot/encoder/circuit) failures...i.e. elevator failure in particular, I know of two different owners that had their elevator stick function fail on the transmitter and cause total loss of the airframes...

You can visualize the failure (aside from the carnage it causes to your airframe) when it occurs in the AFR menu screen where the display tracks the stick movement.
When the (pot/encoder/circuit) fails the movements are erratic on the display as compared to the stick movement and they do not center when the stick is allowed to return to neutral, additionally the end points may be offset from the full defection of the stick.

So far my radio has been fine...but you can bet I check my AFR screen with stick movements regularly;)

RE: DIFFERENCES

here is some extra info not on the website

12Z has Li Ion battery, 4 digital trims, single slider on each side, dual BB gimbals

12fg has Nimh battery, 6 digital trims, I think it has dual sliders, cheaper gimbals

RE: DIFFERENCES

So with the 12Z for $500 you get 5 less models, 1 less timer, a more expensive memory card, the ability to control mixture in flight and logic for switches ?

I have to believe it's the switch logic that causes the price difference.
Can some one give me a real world example of switch logic ?

Not trying to be a smart ar$e, as I to have been debating which one to purchase for some time now.

RE: DIFFERENCES

I understand both have the logic switches programming.
The $ difference is in the hardware

1 Attachment(s)
I have been looking into these radios as well for me heres the biggest diffs for the extra money.

Dual microprccessor 12Z
Quad bearing gimbals
And the biggest thing for me is servo speed in flight modes, the 12Z is the lowest priced Futaba transmitter that gets you this feature, consider a JR9303 does this in a sub $500 tx.

ITs actually looking like I may just get the world X11 and my trusty FASST module to get nearer to a 12X. The FASST module will actually do 12 chnls IF there digital. So it's getting close. Besides I could sell off the DSMJ module and RX for a decent buck.

Keep in mind that the 12Z and 12FG are actually 14 channel. 12 Proportional and 2 Digital.

I was using 13 of them in my Boomerang Elan.

RE: DIFFERENCES

2 CPU's on the 12Z, 1 on the 12FG.
The 12Z has speaker volume control, and better pods.
The 12Z has 4 trim tabs, 12FG has 6 trim tabs.
You can compare both radios here: http://futabarc.com/radios/feature-compare.html

For me, the 12FG is the way to go.
Doug.
