If the guy keeps his fingers so close to the compressor, he may find he has problems with human FOD.

This plane has been measured with a radar gun of the local police 2 months ago.
Guess what speed was? :D 587 km/h |

RE: Now this is fast...
I notice these guys aren't using retracts. Would it really make a difference as far as top end speed? I see it would in overall performance but if you have a clean install it shouldn't affect speed. Besides, added weight of a retract setup should make for increased momentum in a dive to pick up speed...shouldn't it?
|
RE: Now this is fast...
Not at all, because while going uphill the retracts weight slows down the airplane... however the reduced weight is without a doubt a great advantage as the airplane doesn´t loose kinetic energy as much as a heavier airplane on turns while building speed.

RE: Now this is fast...
ORIGINAL: Wayne22 Hmmm.... faster than Shulman....388MPH Lets keep in mind, Shui's record was for the worlds fastest Conventionally Configured Turbine Aircraft. This means an internal ducted engine with pipe, retracts, and a conventional planform (not a delta). This video of this delta has been around a long time, and it's been compared to Shui's run many times, but it's apples to oranges, you can't use them for comparison, same with the DS gliders, far from the same thing :) |
RE: Now this is fast...
I agree, far from the same thing, though both are way to fast for my old eyes. And even though it is not the same thing I am still amazed at a glider going 445.

RE: Now this is fast...
364 mph WOW!! I saw it off the rail then nothing for some time just the Woouss,Woouss then it landed, sorry but it really got boring after the third pass then I fast forward it to the landing.
