What temperatures do you guys fly in?

For the past few days we have been in a heatwave. It is always hot here in the summer, but this spell has broken all records. On Sunday the temp reached 46c (115f) with high humidity. Yesterday & today the humidity is 100%. Cannot fly, or build. Living in the swimming pool. It's like a hot bath:D
Hope it ends soon.

It's hhhhhhhhhhhooooooooooooooooottttttttttttttttt here too neighbour. :)

Still, that's not an excuse not to go flying.
Even if it gets too hot you can always put floats and go to a lake near you:

No lakes or rivers with any water in them here:D. Could try the sea on a calm day.

It's been a little over 100ยบ F around here the last month or so therefore i just fly what everyone else has brought to the field and don't take anything myself. the heat isn't quiet so bad when you don't have to pack it up at home, drag it out at the field, put it back up then unload it when you get home.

The heat I don't mind so much, but the humidity just kills you. Move around & you sweat buckets.

It's about the same here in Florida. The temps have been in the mid 90s all summer. I don't fly in the summer any more especially jets. By the end September the temps become milder and that's when flying starts for me . In the mean time I spend a lot lot of time in the pool which by the way gets to about 89 by mid afternoon.

106 here in Little Rock with high humidity... can't fly mid day. Flying hours are 6-8 pm. Looking forward to the fall. A couple of months of really nice flying. Then to cold.

ROFL !

I've flown in a fairly cold climes (-15 C), and in fairly hot (about 120 F). If I had to choose either extreme, I'd take the hot anyday. A tad uncomfortable, but IMO more bearable than the aching cold fingertips that may or may not do what your brain asks them to do.

Here in the San Francisco Bay area we have had the mildest summer in years
I had to wear a light jacket last weekend in the morning, we have been right around 80 to 90 all summer... very nice
I'm sure we will still get a few heat waves, but for now I couldn't be happier about this summer...

With that said I drive to southern califnoria a lot and everytime I go through buttonwillow it's over 100, I don't know how those guys can take that
maybe they don't fly much this time of year

I grew up not far from you, Ron.

September and October have historically had the nicest Fall weather one could imagine.

After Jets Over Whidbey, I plan to ride my motorcycle to Reno, park the bike at my daughter's house for the Winter, rent a car, and troll the flying sites in the Bay Area for a few days before I travel home.

Where do you fly?

Bob

In Britain we also have 4 seasons:
Fog, followed by cold rain.
Warm Rain.
Cold rain, followed by Fog.
Snow.:D

Given the choice I would go for cold weather. Never mind the fingers, the engines perform so much better in the cold. Priorities mate!
What's a little bit of frostbite anyway?

RE: What temperatures do you guys fly in?

Done the cold bit in Scotland. Sometimes down to -15c. The ideal place must be a constant 75f all year round & not to wet. Also with lots of good flying sites.
Does perfection exist, or the next best thing?
Where is the best weather, most jet friendly country, or area?

Well, my priorities are to be able to take the aircraft home in one piece. Other than a little thinner air to think about, the heat doesn't bother me in that respect. Conversely, when the fingers freeze up and the flare comes 10 ft too low... ;)

RE: What temperatures do you guys fly in?

My club just recently installed a shade structure which helps a lot when its hot. I used to only stay out for an hour or two and leave by 10:00am but now I can take a break from the sun and stay out at the field much longer. I personally cannot stand the heat. Its not like we get super cold in southern California, but I cannot wait for 60 degree weather :)
