What Is This Stuff??

Hi,

I'm trying to figure out the name brand of a filler I've seen used on models. It's similar to Bondo in that it's cream-based and uses a catalyst, but it's light turquois in color, light weight and sands very easily to powder.

Help?

Could it be Evercoat 445 light weight filler.

Evercoat .....is one , there is a stuff called "Icing" that supposed to be lighter . color is usually the catalyst either blue or brown to my knowledge.

Not that I have ever crashed, but if I did, I would use the remainder of my Evercoat Metal Glaze. Comes in a white container, found at most autopaint places. It fits your description in color and sanding too. Not sure why the bottle is 3/4 used...weird.

Evercoat glazing putty. The resin is cream colored and the catalyst is dark blue = light turqoise compound. However..............if you see it that color you made it too strong, so be ready for it to cure in 2-4 minutes !!

I've heard "Ice" is better, but I havent been able to find it locally.

The stuff we use (and offer) is called "split second" which sounds similar to the "Evercoat" that the others have mentioned. Split second mixes exactly like bondo only is significantly lighter than bondo.

I used to use Evercoat 400, until they came out with Split Second. That stuff is GREAT. Like Grandmas Cake ICing...........................It's SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO smooth...................lol

I think you're looking for "Icing" It sands easily and has micro ballons in it so it is light weight. It's awesome for fillets and tightening the gap between hatch covers and the fuse.

Evercoat's Quantum Glaze is sort of turqouise right out of the container, definitely blue green when the cream hardener is added.

I used Icing on my race bike when I was fixing the bodywork and I'll never go back to Evercoat or Bondo. Icing is seriously good stuff.

Hi,

Which retailers carry Icing?

ORIGINAL: YellowAircraft

Hi,

Which retailers carry Icing?
I found it at a local NAPA store...good thing, too, because the places I located online wouldn't ship it to Alaska.

I got mine from a paint store right near my house where I get my PPG from. Most auto parts stores should carry it though.

Hi,

It shows up on Napa's web site, and there's one right down the road a bit.

Thanks, guys!

Might be: Dupont NovoLite Premium 211SM? I also use 3M Marine Putty White P/N 051131-05962. Goes on like Bondo, no mixing, white in color and extremely hard when dry, yet very easy to sand.

Another issue with the Evercoat, it is STINKY. [sm=confused.gif]

How does Icing smell?

All sounds interesting! Does anyone know what UK/European equivalents might be? :(

Professional Finishing Cream, in a small white plastic container. You will love this stuff, sold where you usually find the lightweight Bondo. Beats all the others.
