While I am on the back of the plug why not make the turkey's. They are a exact copy of the real one and with closed nozzle it is precies the diameter of the big one in scale. I will later open them up a little bit more for scale look. This one will not be operationally, thats for later.

Here they are, they look scratchy but fine sanding is for later.
15 turkeys.

Turkey feathers look fantastic peter, those are the one things i am not looking forward to doing on my f14. Atleast i only have to do them once though since they are identical.

Thanks Paul :D

Nozzle update, I hope that I can compete with this in the future with other models :D. The finger seals are now in place.
Next step is to make the nozzle segments and seals.

While the canopy windscreen mold is drying I did some nozzle drawing. The parts fit together finally! Not all of them are there yet but tis is the first setup.

(Thomas, too bad it is not the same as in the F14)

Peter

I have been following your great efforts with amazement at the patience you have! Your working tailfeathers reminds me of a visit to the Ohain Whittle in Germany back in 2004 when I saw working tailfeathers on a turbine and also working afterburner.

I dont recall the tailfeathers actually flying but the afterburner worked well but did use a heap of fuel.

The afterburner you can hear being switched on when the plane starts to go vertical and switched off when it has reached altitude. You need to turn the sound up to hear it clearly. Itw as also used for takeoff.

Peter,
The nozzle looks great. Does the F-16 your modeling have the GE F110 or the Pratt & Whitney F100? If it has the General Electric F110, then it is in fact the same as my F-14D tailpipe. The only difference being, the F-14 version has a 50" extension between the afterburner and exhaust nozzle

Thomas, we fly with the P&W F100. There is no budged for a better engine :D. Later I will make another nozzle for the C verson ;)

Ahh ok. They still look VERY similar in appearance. I will probably end up doing a fiberglass molding of the inner nozzle portion, and then some aluminum panels for the turkey feathers. It won't be functional (at first) but it'll look the part.

De mold for the windscreen is ready, I will make the positive later.

The panelling on the left of the CP is now in place.

This is the first part for the scale nozzle, it will be moulded with rubber to make more. (this is for the static)

If you look at the PW (first pic) they have narrower feathers that are straight for to aft. The GE's (second pic) are wider, therefore fewer, and have a curve fore to aft.
