New Steering Servo-HOW FAST should it..
...be?
I have a T-Maxx and have been looking at new steering servos. I like the Hitec 5645 servo, 'cause it's only $55, metal gear, BBs, 150+ oz torque at 6V..
but it's 6V speed is .18 second.
Is that fast enough for a monster truck???
Does anyone know the rated speed of the stock 2055 servo? I want the best servo for under $75, what other options should I look at?
Please help!!

i have the hitech 645 on my savage, its about 133 oz, and it works great. For a monster truck torque is more important than speed, to turn the big MT tires. just my 2 cents worth...

Speed is not really too important on a steering servo. I have a Hitec 945 153 oz/in of torque. The 645 and 5645 are good servos and a lot of people use them. If you check E-Bay or shop around a little more I think you could get a 645 for around $35....

I'm looking at the hitec HS-625 MG BB myself. It's got metal gears and ball bearings, and it'll supply a touch over 5KG of torque - enough according to HPI's website. That's costing me about £35, or $50.

I would go for a Airtronics(Sanwa) or KoPropo servo...they make Hitec look like . and there are some reasonable priced ones that have 10Kg and .12 sec, somthing like a Sanwa SX162T or KoPropo 2174([email protected]!) are exceptional servos(compared to a Hitech) at around $65USD.
IMO for monster streeing you want at least 10Kg and .12
