Default New to RC, bought a BL ECX Ruckus with some problems. Need help.

Hello all,

I'm new to hobby grade RC. I've been reading up on it for over two weeks and yesterday I won a brushless 2wd ECX Ruckus on eBay for $140. It has a few issues.

First it has a broken axle/driveshaft. I figured I'll just upgrade them instead of putting stock ones back on. I looked into it and it seems like the hot racing star drives are the best ones I can get. Anyone have any experience with them?

Second is that it doesn't come with a battery. I know it can run a 2s lipo but should I just get a 3s or will that overheat it? It already has a fan on the ESC. Also what c rating should I go for and about how much runtime time should I expect out of a 4000mah battery?

Also since it's made to run on a lipo should I get an LVA or will I be fine with the stock system? Can someone point me in the right direction for a decent LVA?

Thanks in advance!

Do you know what ESC it has ?
This will determine what voltage it can handle !!!

Should have also asked what KV the motor is ? This this will also have a bearing on what voltage is reasonable .

It's the stock brushless motor and ESC. Sorry about that. Motor is 3300kv and ESC is 45A sensorless with Active Vehicle Control.

45 Amp is on the a bit on the low side for a 1/10 scale in my opinion .The esc and motor will handle 3S according to the specs , but I would be careful how you drive it . As an example , too many attempts at long wheels on a grippy surface will get it hot ! Loose surfaces won't be as bad as they put less strain on the motor .

I will mostly be driving it on dirt and fine loose gravel. The ESC already has a fan on it but do you have any suggestions on an upgraded one? What c rating should I get for the lipo?

I would go for a minimum of 30C on any Lipo you get , some people like more .

I would not bother to upgrade unless something goes wrong with it . Something like a Hobbywing 10BL60 + program card would do the job .

Doesnt the fan needs to be changed from 5v to 12v? Just asking...

Where you able to find any upgrade parts for the dog bones?
