Its actually got the XTM 24.7 not a .21 and is VERY easy to break in and tune. You could start with some engine oil like was already mentioned just to make sure you have some lube in there to start with. All the ones I've started for customers have usually started on the first or second pull after priming by placing my finger over the exhaust and pulling the pull start 3-4 times. Very easy engine to run. Good Luck

Can a started box be used with this truck? Form the pics I've seen, looks like the flywheel extends below the chassis.

no i can't wait!! it's driving me crazy. i started with a st-15 then a rc10gt (for sale now if you are interested) and a nitro rs42 and have enjoyed them all but they were all used . needed something and took some adjusting to get them right. rc10 has been most trouble free so far but lately i have been getting the itch for something new. i like big and fast. now i'm getting both in one truck. i never race don't even jump that much. i do love to hill climb though so this will be great. also my first 4wd truck. any setup tips for climbing? looks like it is sprung a bit soft too. anyone know of a company that makes skidplates? i couldn't believe how cheap it was too. cheaper than a t-maxx,savage21or25,ae mgt and all! and it's faster and supposedly handles better! everyone who has xtm stuff seems to love them so i am excited. ever since i saw it in rcca's new stuff section i knew i would buy one. it was one of those love at first sight things.

i need some tire info now too. the tires that come on it may look cool but are probably crap. what's the best options for grass, hillclimbing and occasional pavement? that will be 90% of my uses. hillclimbing wil be on relatively hard ground and i don't want to run down the tread if i go flying up & down my street. if you have them please post pics too.
thanks,
mike

Haha! I told me parental units that I bought the Savage for Xmas and that I would wrap it and put it under the tree. Well, it was a couple weeks until Xmas and I thought I would be able to wait. The package came..I told them I was gonna open it up to make sure everything was there. I didn't want to put it away. One thing lead to another, and I was breaking it in 5 hours later. DOH [:@]

i just ran through my 2nd tank and i am soooo excited. i haven't really gotten on it yet but am still running real slow and rich.it does great circles at 10 mph. i went a little fast down the driveway and i had to be going at least 30 or so and hadn't even come close to 2nd gear. i can't wait for tomorrow and 4-5 more tanks of fuel. yes it's really really big.

well it is definitely fast. i'm still running way rich while breaking it in and it is faster than my rc10gt by a lot. the gear shift is seamless and the brakes are really great. my first thought was the rear end is too soft but i haven't been bottoming and it handles well. we'll see when we start hillclimbing next week. i am afraid it will bottom and pop the rear end off the ground and lose traction. i'll let you know. so far i love it. i am a little curious about the steering servo though... all it has is a blue case. no marking of any kind. wierd. has a hitec throttle one. steers okay though.

i'm happy.
