cen diff cup and part gx12
hey all, I was upgrading my cen mt2. and checking my rear gears.
and i pulled out both rear diff cups. and everthing looked ok.
so i gave it some fresh grease, and put the gears back togather.
and finished my upgrade of the : ffs009 brake seat, and new brakes.
and all seemed ok. being aware of engine/ gear damage. i checked those as well with paper.
i think i got that part correct "not sure". after about an hour of hard running/ jumping.
one side of the gearbox broke a diff cup. does it sound like i done something wrong?
and what is that little shaft on the GX12 for ? it came out when i took the cups out
to clean/grease the gears. NOTE: all else looks fine.
PS: thanks to everyone here that gave me tips on tuning, this truck screams !

RE: cen diff cup and part gx12
that pin is what keeps the diff cups centered with each other. to fix it so it wont break again take a new diff cup, wrap a little foil around the large end and take some 7/16 brass tubing and put a 1/4 inch piece over the end. remove some of the foil until it just bearly fits. then put some thin CA glue on it and let it sit for a minute or two. you may need to file down a tiny part of the shock tower to make it fit. once you do this it will never break again.

RE: cen diff cup and part gx12
I thought I'd give this a try and I had a couple of spare joint cups for the center dog bone. Works great, here is a picture. I will be doing the diff cups next. If you do the joint cups be sure and remove the setscrews before putting on the thin CA. You know there is another thread going about diff cups. I put this post there too.
