Default Revo goes HiTec

Well, i decided to put some high end servos on the Revo today. I decided against the Digital servos, they just eat batteries too fast. So i put a Hitec HS-925MG/HIGH SPEED, on the throttle and brake. I then installed 2 Hitec HS-645MG Ultra Torque servos on the steering. I havent run it yet, but man the throttle is opening up REALLY fast. Steering is crazy too. I have nearly 300 oz of torque on steering with this truck now. Here are the specs.

Hitec HS-925MG
speed: .08 sec
torque: 106.93 oz. in

Hitec HS-645MG
speed: .2 sec
torque: 133 oz. in

Oh, and i also picked up some HURRICANE wheels today.

Revo comes with 2 steering servos. It uses a Y harness to run them both.

Nice .. Wouldn't two servos take more power than 1 digital?

I had one of my stock servos crap out on me Friday for race day, and I didn't want to buy another stock or equivalent so I bought a single JR Z8800T. 188oz and .15sec, now my car turns on a dime. Also locked my tranny into foward only with a body clip. No more OptiDrive or micro servo .. Now there's a lot of space in the receiver box.

Well, you would think that 2 servos would take more than 1 digital, but my testing has shown me otherwise. My savage typically ran about 6 tanks, then needed a charge. Im running that truck with a Team Orion Marathon 1200, JR 188 oz digital servo, and a JR590 on the throttle, with a Dynamite failsafe. Now i used that same battery to test my LST run time, and compared it to other packs. My LST using stock equipment of FOUR servos, same dynamite fail safe, got me to 7 tanks, and then i ran out of fuel. Batteries were still strong. That LST is using heavier tires, and more servos. So that got me thinking about digital servos before i bought new ones. According to the people i've asked, the digital does draw ALOT more power than standard servos. I'll test these servos this week, and see how many tanks i get on this Revo with this setup. If i remember correctly, my first charge on that pack gave me the 5 break-in tanks, then needed a charge. I believe the second gave me 6 tanks or more.

Thanks for the heads up .. I did a temporary FOC mod and I ditched the Optidrive and the micro servo.

I seemed to have a lot of problems too ..

Malfunctioning Servo.
Deformed Rocker Post (Result: Broken P1 Rocker)
P/S string coming out of the 2.5 pullstarter.
Stretched Rear Shock Ends.

Ran the truck less than 10 fuel tanks.

i also streched the rear and one front shock ends. it happened after i stiffened up the suspension with the gold springs in front and black in rear and 70w oil all around. although the truck tracked very well on the street with that setup, i decided to soften it up again with near box stock settings.
imo, the forward only conversion on a revo is kinda pointless. the benefit of doing this in the t-maxx was to eliminate the large and heavy forward and reverse gears in the tranny, they do not exist in the revo, dramaticaly lowering rotating mass. you honestly get very little performance gain by removing the optidrive and microservo, especialy when you consider the overal size and weight of the truck. and when you remove the optidrive you remove a failsafe(which it doubles as) which is kinda a dumb move, especialy if you add an aftermarket f/s.
there is a bigger benifit to be gained by a good breakin procedure, proper tuning, and good fuel and glow plug choices. but, i guess every little bit counts

oh yea? then put it back in, and run the truck till the battery is dead. the servos will get a little soft, then thet dont respond, allways at neutral. then drive your revo up the street, and shut off the controler. the servos go back to neutral! i dont care what zipper says, it works that way.

Without the FOC you couldn't keep the tranny together if you put any kind of real power to it!

no, ALL servos go back to nutral, not just the throttle servo. the optidrive senses the low voltage, waits for the vehicle to come to a stop and kills everything. the reason it is not termed a f/s is cause it will not kick in till the vehicle stops, which may be a while if your racing.

and g1gy, your right, i opened my tranny up and that shift mechanism looks a little flimsy, definitly wouldnt hold up to that sirio .23, ofna .26 etc... , but as far as a stock truck i still feel theres no point in removing reverse
