Bought a Cen MT2!!!
I was going to get a T-Maxx, but with all the stuff I needed besides the truck, it got to expensive. I decided to get myself the CEN MT2. I paid $249.00 from offshoreelectrics.com. Not a bad deal! Anyways. I'm going to place an order from Tower this evening. I'm wanting to get everything I'll need to keep the truck running good.
I'm going to buy a....
Temp Gauge. Should I buy an onboard one, or a hand held?
Glow plugs. Does it matter what plugs I get? Or will the cheapest do the job?
Fuel bottle. 250 cc should be enough for running around the yard right?
Failsafe. What kind should I get. I believe there is an OFNA brand on Tower for $20. It has Futaba J connectors. Will this work with the CEN MT2?
What kind of motor saver air filter should I get? Or is it needed?
Any other accesories to keep on hand. I have fuel and a glow ignitor.
I've heard of a few problems with the CEN MT2. What replacement parts are a must to keep on hand? Any mods or hop-ups that really increase performance or durability? Let me know. Ordering tonight!!
Can't wait for my new toy!
Thanks!!

RE: Bought a Cen MT2!!!
congrats.
temp gauge: hand held!!! been through 2 on board, either break beacuase they fall off and slide agiasnt the ground or un do them selfs and you have to re soider them
glow plugs: this is the part i dont like to spend money on, so i buy the cheap tower ones, and they last long time for me.
fuel bottle: yes, i would go with 500CC
fail safe: if you have a futaba radio go with the ofna, i am very impressed with theres have 2 of them
airfilter, post a pic of the stock truck, just go on the website or post a link, i need to see how big it is. if its like an airfilter like the same size as the ones in buggys, you should be fine.
if you have a rechargeable glow ignitor, suggest buying a battery one, no pros or cons, just to keep it on hand so you keep on the road all the time
if its a eletric start buy more than one batttery
mods or parts: i realy dont kno the truck, but i ussaly keep like, a-arms, gears, SCREWS ready to be put on, might i suggest a stainless steel screw kit??

RE: Bought a Cen MT2!!!
Here is a picture of the chassis. I'm not sure what kind of radio comes with the truck. I very seriously doubt it's a Futuba. Anyone know what kind of radio? And if the Ofna Fail Safe with Futuba J Connectors will work? The air filter I was talking about was one that goes over the carb. Am I right on that? Still looking for important mods. Please keep the suggestions comming.

RE: Bought a Cen MT2!!!
this is an absolute must.
buy some 7/16 inch diameter brass tubing, and thin CA glue (aka tire glue)
you will need it to reinforce the diff cups which are the only weak point.
do a search for "cen mt2 diff cup fix" or something like that. you should find several posts telling how to do this. it is very simple and only takes 2 minutes. this will save you money on drive shafts that may be lost and on the diff cups that break.

RE: Bought a Cen MT2!!!
Can anyone tell me if the OFNA fail safe will work the with stock radio system in the MT2? The fail safe says it has Futaba "J" connectors. I'm not sure what kind come one the stock system. Another question, I'm wanting a hump pack for it. Can anyone recommend a descent battery and quick charger for a good (cheap) price?
I'm wanting to go ahead and order some parts that might go bad. Like the spur gears. Can some one tell me what kind of spur gears I'll need? Is there a metal spur gear to get for it, maybe one that doesn't strip out so easily? Any other parts that might keep me down I'd like to order also. So if you guys have model #'s, or a the kind of parts that I need, that would be helpful. I'm not sure what spur gears to buy.
Thanks guys!

RE: Bought a Cen MT2!!!
i would suggest this http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXHFP0&P=7 , and then adding on this http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXHFP6&P=0 the charger says it takes about 30-45 minutes to charge, i asked the company. is looks like this minus the battery.
hey if you order the charger from tower post a pic of all of what it comes with, i was reading a magazine and it said it came with a battery, but on tower it doesnt say anything about a it, so im not sure... thanks

RE: Bought a Cen MT2!!!
Here is a suggested list of spare parts,
spur gear 44T = G84307-02
spur gear 47T = G84307-01
Diff cups = GX15
axle pins = GX47
axle shaft = GX12
glow plugs = short cold
screw set = FF063
This hump pack at Ehobbies will work, RTR Hump Battery Pack W/ Charger - OFN 90138 you will have to change the on/off switch to make it work, local hobby store will have the switches.
The Ofna fail safe should work.
The diff cup mod should be the first thing done. Do a search in the CEN forum.
