RE: Roto start worth the $$?
there are some kits that just have the back plate so you can you a drill, which I think works better and may save you some $$$. Some of the reason it is better IMO is for tuning. I have all my cars / trucks converted over to bump boxes and shaft starts and love it. Yes, there is more to carry around, but if you have a nice big track box (or 2, or 3) with wheels it is not that big of a deal. I know some people don't like them, but the E-Z start on the Revo it so dam nice. If you stall on a track you can just keep the battery started in a pocket and restart it anywhere without pulling to body off.

roto start is a joke. I used mine like 3 times before it broke. First the button kept getting stuck then shorted, so I put a better one in, Then the internal gears stripped and it caught on fire. Pull start rules.

it caught fire, that would SUCK. I on the other hand have bad luck and tend to bust the pull starts, and I get the blisters from them too.
I agree the roto start part is totale trash, I use a 14.4 volt drill and it works great!

First start of the day on a cold motor , loosen the glow plug , you will not have any issuses with the roto start if you follow this simple rule .

I agree on that Danno, As it happen to me, stripping the gear, and I notice the best way starting it is by loosening the plug while starting it then tighten it up when the engine already running. Also when I purchase another roto-start from hpi it doesn't cos that much
($100) it cost only like $39 as i remember from hobby town, It is good speacialy if you got the pull start already. I broke mine as I don't loosening the plug on the first roto-start I have. Just one thing to remember, don't start the roto if the engine hydralock.
